Wu Qin martyrs cemetery
Wuqin martyr cemetery is located at No.57, Lingnan Avenue North, Chancheng District, Foshan City. It was founded in 1951. Foshan municipal Party committee and Foshan Municipal People's Government repaired the cemetery three times in 1982, 1989 and 1990.
In May 1998, wuqin martyr cemetery was announced by Foshan Municipal People's government as a cultural relic protection unit of Foshan City. In December 1994, it was announced by Foshan municipal Party committee and Foshan Municipal People's government as a patriotic education base of Foshan City
Brief introduction to the cemetery
Wuqin martyrs cemetery covers an area of 1500 square meters, surrounded by iron railings, more than 2 meters high. The main entrance of the cemetery is a magnificent two-story glazed tile archway with a horizontal plaque entitled "eternal beauty". In the center of the cemetery stands a 4-meter-high monument to martyr Wu Qin, on which there are inscriptions introducing the life and deeds of martyr Wu Qin. At the back of the monument are three earth tombs, which respectively bury the remains of martyr Wu Qin and his brother Wu jianben, and martyr Deng Zhuoying, Wu Qin's former guard. In the cemetery, there is a terrazzo pavilion with a sharp roof, covering an area of about 9 square meters, with stone platforms and stone benches. There are flowers and plants inside and outside the mausoleum, which are evergreen all the year round.
Personage introduction
Wu Qin (1895-1942), formerly known as Wu qinben, was born in Chancheng District of Foshan City. In his early years, he took part in the democratic revolution led by Sun Yat Sen and served as Sun Yat Sen's guard. In May 1924, Nanpu agricultural regiment army, one of the earliest peasant revolutionary forces in the history of Guangdong Agricultural Movement, was established as the head of the army. In the same year, he participated in the second Guangzhou peasant movement seminar and joined the Communist Party of China. In 1925, he was the chairman of the Fourth District farmers' Association of Nanhai county. In 1927, he served as the head of the second regiment of the Nanhai peasant red guards. In cooperation with the Guangzhou Uprising, he led the team to capture pujunwei in Foshan. After the failure of the uprising, he left Singapore, Hong Kong and other places. After the July 7th incident in 1937, he resolutely returned to Guangzhou and Foshan to carry out the Anti Japanese armed struggle. In October 1938, when Guangzhou and Foshan were occupied, Wu Qin organized an anti Japanese volunteer team to fight against the Japanese aggressors in Nanhai county. In November of the same year, the Anti Japanese volunteers were organized into the second guerrilla detachment in the urban area of Guangzhou and served as commander. Later, under the guidance and assistance of the Communist Party of China, they reorganized and reorganized into the people's Anti Japanese armed forces directly under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and remained commander. In 1939, he also served as the president of the Anti Japanese Junjie comrades' club. On May 7, 1942, when Wu Qin was crossing the river by boat at shuizhihua ferry in Chencun, Shunde, he was ambushed by the stubborn army of the Kuomintang and the puppet army of Chencun, and unfortunately died.
