Historical evolution

Predecessor of merger

Shenyang Normal University was established in 2002 by the merger of Shenyang Normal University and Liaoning Institute of education.

Shenyang Normal University

In March 1951, the Ministry of education of the Northeast People's government decided to establish the Northeast Teachers College, which was renamed Northeast Education College in April of the same year.

In May 1951, the Ministry of education of Northeast People's government officially approved the establishment of Northeast Institute of education.

In May 1953, the Education Bureau of northeast administrative committee adjusted and merged seven normal colleges in Liaodong, Liaoxi and Shenyang into three colleges, namely Northeast Education College, Harbin Normal College and Dalian normal college.

In September 1953, Northeast Institute of education changed its name to Shenyang Normal University, and Guo Moruo inscribed its name.

In October 1965, the school officially changed its name to Liaoning first normal university.

In December 1969, the provincial Revolutionary Committee decided to abolish Jinzhou Normal University, and transferred its physics department and chemistry department to Liaoning first normal university. On this basis, the college established the Department of industrial foundation and the Department of agricultural foundation.

In July 1973, the school established Jinzhou branch of Liaoning First Normal University, and dropped the two departments of physics and chemistry back to Jinzhou.

In 1976, Liaoning First Normal University moved back to Shenyang to restore the name of Shenyang Normal University. The subordinate relationship of the University was determined to be jointly managed by the province and the city, with the city as the main management. At the same time, it was decided to change Jinzhou branch of Liaoning First Normal University into Jinzhou Normal University.

In 1982, the school was under the management of Liaoning Provincial People's government.

In 1984, the University obtained the right to confer master's degree.

 

Liaoning Institute of Education

Liaoning Institute of education is established on the basis of the former Liaoning Education Administrative Cadre school, Liaoning correspondence college, Liaoning Teachers' Training College and Liaoning primary and secondary school teaching research office. The former Liaoning Education Administrative Cadre school was founded in March 1956, Liaoning correspondence college was founded in 1962, and Liaoning teacher training college was founded in October 1957.

In August 1977, Liaoning Provincial Establishment Committee approved the establishment of Liaoning Institute of education.

In March 1978, Guo Moruo wrote the name of Liaoning Institute of education.

In November 1986, Liaoning Education Administration Cadre school was established and renamed as Liaoning Education Administration College, which worked together with Liaoning Education College.

 

Merger of the two universities

In March 2002, the Ministry of Education officially approved the merger of Shenyang Normal University and Liaoning Institute of education to form Shenyang Normal University.

 

In November 2012, the school was selected into the first batch of "excellent legal talents education and training plan" of the Ministry of education.

 

In December 2014, the school was selected into the first batch of "excellent teacher training plan" of the Ministry of education.

 

In June 2017, the University was selected into the second batch of model universities of deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform by the Ministry of education.

 

In November 2018, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the first batch of excellent traditional Chinese culture inheritance bases, and Shenyang Normal University was selected.
