Luoyang Peony Garden

Luoyang national peony garden is located in the original place of Luoyang peony. It is the former site of Xiyuan in Sui Dynasty and Shendu garden in Tang Dynasty. It is the earliest peony planting area in China.

Luoyang peony garden is located in the east of Wangcheng Avenue, the intersection of the old 310 National Road and Guohua road in Luoyang City, with convenient transportation. You can take bus No.51, 83, 27, 16 from Luoyang railway station directly to the garden. Our garden was built earlier in Luoyang and has the most peony treasures. Many party and state leaders, celebrities and international friends have come to our garden to enjoy the flowers. Peng Chong, the former national leader, wrote the name of the garden in his own handwriting.

History and culture

Dong's West Garden in the Northern Song Dynasty is located in the park. During the reign of Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty, Li Xianting, a famous scholar in Luoyang, built Li's garden in the former site of Dong's west garden, which became the largest peony garden in Luoyang during the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was renamed suburban nursery peony variety garden and national peony variety gene bank. Finally, in March 2003, it was approved as "Luoyang national Peony Garden" by the State Forestry Bureau and became a national peony viewing area. The national Peony Garden concentrates Luoyang peony culture with a long history and inherits the regional context of the famous garden through the ages.

The Millennium Fengdan forest in the garden is a relic of Dong's West Garden in the Song Dynasty and Li's garden in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. One of the "Millennium peony net" is a relic of the West Garden in the Sui Dynasty, which is a "living fossil" of Luoyang peony.

Flowering period:

Every year from April 1 to May 10, you can enjoy the colorful and fragrant peony flowers, which bloom for more than a month.
