Mawei District (formerly belonging to Fujian Province) is the jurisdiction of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. It is located at 119 ° 37 ′ E and 25 ° 29 ′ n. It is located in the southeast coast of China and the North Bank of the lower reaches of Minjiang River. It is 17 nautical miles away from the mouth of Minjiang River. It is an important military and commercial port in Fujian Province and the water gateway of Fuzhou. This area is where the Wulong River, Bailong River and Qinjiang River meet. The three rivers flow from Min'an town and changmen into the East China Sea. It faces Changle district across the river in the southeast, Guantou town of Lianjiang county in the northeast, and Huanxi town of Jin'an District in the West. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The geological structure is located in the east of Fuzhou basin on the east edge of the second complex uplift belt of Huaxia system in the southeast coast of China. It belongs to Jiangkou drowning bay type sand deposit. The thickness of Quaternary System in the area is generally 30-40m. It thickens from the mountain side along the river, and the bedrock is metamorphic volcanic rock and granite. Mawei has a subtropical marine monsoon climate, with short winter and long summer. It is warm, humid, mild and rainy. It has four seasons like spring, and the annual average temperature is 19 ℃. It is a good summer resort. The dominant wind direction in Mawei is northeast wind, and the annual rainfall is about 1382 mm. The Minjiang River is rich in surface water resources with an annual runoff of 61.135 billion cubic meters. There are five kinds of soil: red soil, fluvo aquic soil, sandy soil, saline soil and paddy soil. Vegetation belongs to the junction of subtropical monsoon rain forest and subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest. There are many kinds of vegetation, mainly evergreen broad-leaved forest. The main tree species are Pinus massoniana, Cunninghamia lanceolata, banyan, acacia, etc.
In October 2018, Mawei District was selected as one of the top 100 national science and technology innovation zones in 2018 and the top 100 national new urbanization quality zones in 2018.

Jiang Youli was under the jurisdiction of Yingqian County, Min county.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Mawei area belonged to Fujian east road. After the merger of Min county and Houguan County, it belonged to Minhou Prefecture. In March of the Republic of China, Minhou Prefecture was changed into Minhou County, and Mawei Prefecture belongs to Minhou County. From 3 to 14 years of the Republic of China, it belonged to Minhou County of minhai road. From December 22 to February 23, it belongs to Minhou County, minhai province. In the 24 years of the Republic of China, it belonged to the Second District of Minhou County; in the 31 years of the Republic of China, it belonged to Gushan district. In October of the 33rd year of the Republic of China, Minhou County changed its name to Linsen county.
In August 1949, after the liberation of Mawei, Tingjiang and Langqi, they belonged to the third district of Minhou County. In December of the same year, Langqi belonged to the Second District of Minhou County.
In the second half of 1952, according to the decision of the Fujian provincial Party committee and the provincial people's government, the Minhou prefectural committee and Minhou special office of the Communist Party of China established the Mawei special area (also known as Minjiang port special area), a class a county system, with jurisdiction over villages and towns on both sides of the Minjiang Estuary, Guantou, Daoao, Xiaoao, Baisheng in Mawei, Tingjiang, Langqi and lianjiang counties, and Yingqian, chiudong, Houyu, Tantou, Meisheng in Changle County Flowers and boat people on both sides. In February 1978, Mawei returned to the suburbs. In August 1982, Mawei District was established as a county-level administrative region directly under the Fuzhou Municipal People's government. On November 24, 1995, Tingjiang and Langqi separated from the suburbs of Fuzhou and were unified into Mawei District. Mawei District now governs three towns and one street (Mawei Town, Tingjiang Town, Langqi Town, Luoxing Street), 62 village committees and 13 communities (neighborhood committees), with a total administrative area of 276 square kilometers.
History of administrative division: Majiang Town, minting town and Langqi Township were liberated one after another from August 15 to 17, 1949. At that time, the district office was located in Min'an Town, which had jurisdiction over Majiang Town, minting town and Jiadeng Township, and still had 33 security posts. In December of the same year, Majiang town and Minting town were designated as the third district of Minhou County, and Minlang town as the Second District, with a district office as the county agency. In 1950, the territory began to build democracy, abolish the Baojia system, and establish Township political power. On April 22, the second division set up one town and six townships, and the third division set up two towns and eight townships.
On April 19, 1951, the democratic government re divided the townships, the setting of districts and towns remained unchanged, and the zoning of townships was adjusted. There were eight townships in one town in the second district and 12 townships in two towns in the third district.
