Changde Road
Changde Road is a landscape road in Heping District, Tianjin, China. It is 1219 meters long, reaching Minyuan stadium in the East and Xikang Road in the West. Its north and south sides are parallel to Dali road and Chongqing road respectively. Changde Road belongs to the famous five Avenue area, which is the shortest of the six East-West roads.
Changde Road, formerly known as Columbo Road, belongs to the British concession in Tianjin and was built in 1929. Changde Road used to be a marsh and low-lying area. After the British concession Bureau of industry obtained the land in 1903, it was filled from 1919 to 1926 in combination with the Haihe River dredging project to make it suitable for urban construction. The road was built in 1929. Since then, large areas of high-grade residential areas have been rapidly formed on both sides, with good greening and various European architectural styles.
After the Chinese government took over the British concession in Tianjin, it changed it into Changde Road.
