Brief introduction of Jianfu Temple
The scale of Jianfu nunnery was small. The early Abbot monks were Yishan monk and his two disciples. Food and clothing were provided by the ancestral hall. The three masters and disciples were able to live in peace and practice Taoism. It was a rare pure Taoist temple in Modern Tianjin. The monk Yishan is an eminent monk with profound Taoism. He was once praised by master jingshizong. After Yishan monk passed away, his apprentices took over the service for more than 30 years.
Zhou Shuzhen, the grandson of Zhou Fu, was a progressive figure in Tianjin's industrial and commercial circles. After 1949, he voluntarily offered Jianfu nunnery. Since then, the nunnery has been managed by Tianjin Buddhist Association. In the mid-1950s, the Buddhist Association arranged Buddhist monk mingzong to move to the nunnery, so it became a bhiksuni monastery. During the "Cultural Revolution", this nunnery was seriously damaged. On April 18, 1996, this nunnery was reopened. Under the leadership of master Miaoxian, the believers worked hard and gradually recovered to its present scale.
Present situation of Jianfu nunnery
Jianfu nunnery is now sitting in the main hall facing south, with three Ying, green brick and gray tile, solemn and simple. The three Bodhisattvas of Guanyin, Manjusri and Puxian in the hall were moved from the Dabei Buddhist temple in Tianjin in 1991. They are decorated with colors and gold. They are solemn and brilliant. Jialan, dizang and pharmacist Buddha are worshipped in one place, quiet and solemn. In the hall, there are two plaques: "Pudu maze" and "beizhizhizun", which are vigorous and dignified. On both sides of the mountain gate are inlaid two wooden plaques with black characters on a yellow background, which are "solemn land, happiness and happiness", "Buddha's day, glory and Dharma's rotation", and six characters "Amitabha Buddha in the South" on the wall, which make people refreshing. Recently, he invited a jade Buddha from Myanmar, and the Dharma is solemn. There are also large plaques and couplets holding pillars (16 pieces) shining. Although the temple is small, it is elegant and dignified.
There was a vegetable garden between the gate of the nunnery and the parapet river of the new warehouse. Not far from the west is the Haihe River. The geographical situation makes the nunnery "worshiped by thousands of people every day and illuminated by thousands of lights at night". In spring, summer and autumn, all kinds of vegetables are fresh, tender and green. The flowers and birds in the nunnery, the chanting of Sanskrit music, the morning bell and the evening drum make it a warm and quiet "pure land of the world". After the Guanghua bridge was built on the Haihe River, the roads became open, and the traffic in front of the gate was busy, which was a prosperous scene. Incense flourishes and believers are like clouds. On the first and fifteenth day of each month, there are thousands of pilgrims.
There are 12 nuns in the temple. Under the leadership of Abbot Miaoxian, they keep the precepts and chant Buddhism. They pass the hall at two o'clock and do not eat at noon. They build the supreme road with the spirit of Six Harmonies and respect. Master Miaoxian and his nuns, with the spirit of being born, did good deeds in the world, helped the poor, the orphans and the disabled, and donated money to set up schools. In 1997, a 6.2 earthquake occurred in Zhangjiakou area of Hebei Province. In 1998, the Yangtze River Basin and Songhua River Basin were flooded. Jianfu nuns endured the heat of summer and the cold of winter. They raised money and goods to relieve the victims. They raised more than 100000 yuan and more than 20000 pieces of clothing and food, ranking first in the religious circles of Jinmen; As far as Minxian County, Gansu Province, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, along the Yangtze River and Songhua River, the abbot Miao Xian personally presented the gifts. Their deeds have been widely reported in magazines and newspapers such as Fayin, Tianjin daily, Tianjin workers' daily, tonight, Tianjin Youth League news, etc., and have won respect and praise from all walks of life.
