Architectural story
It is said that Liang Shiyi, a Jinshi of Guangxu, studied here when he was young. Later, he was awarded the editor of the Imperial Academy. He participated in Yuan Shikai's activities of coercing the Qing Royal family to abdicate. He served as secretary-general of Yuan Shikai's presidential palace, Prime Minister of the Bank of communications, Vice Minister of the Ministry of finance, and Premier of the Beiyang government.
In 1918, Guangzhou City demolished the city wall and opened the road. The planned new Weixin Road (today's uprising Road) will cross the Qianqing academy and the adjacent Qingyun Academy (Qiancheng Hou Temple) to reach the Pearl River. At that time, Liang Shiyi and Liang Qichao telegraphed the Guangdong government to ask for the preservation of "Liang Qiancheng Marquis Temple", which was finally preserved. In the ninth year of the Republic of China (1920), Qingyun Academy was demolished and ceded nearly half of its area, including the three main blocks of the back hall of Sai Chai Chang.
Due to the construction of Qingyun Academy for a long time and neglect of management, the roof of Qingyun academy is overgrown with weeds and seriously damaged. In recent years, Yuexiu District Government of Guangzhou city has carried out a comprehensive restoration of the Academy. According to historical data, Qingyun academy is a part of Beijing Road Academy group. Historically, the Qing Dynasty academy group in Yuexiu District and Beijing Road Pedestrian Street was the cradle of cultivating talents. In that year, with Guangzhou government as the center and within a radius of 3.2 square kilometers, there were three academies, five provincial academies and one government Academy, There are two county-level academies and hundreds of ancestral temple academies. These academies have become a rare high-density historical and cultural landscape in China. According to the records of Guangzhou Yuexiu ancient library, the number of Guangzhou academies in Qing Dynasty ranked first in China.
