Arboretum of South China Agricultural University
South China Agricultural University Arboretum is located in Changgang mountain of South China Agricultural University, covering an area of 24 hectares. The arboretum is divided into six functional areas: Introduction Experimental Area, tree classification area, afforestation experimental area, breeding experimental area, ecological restoration area and aquatic plant area. There are 1065 plant species in the arboretum, including the main tree species, rare and endangered plants, economic plants, garden plants, shade plants and aquatic plants of all kinds of forests in South China. 62 species of endangered plants have been introduced and planted, including Camellia chrysantha, known as "giant panda" and Alsophila spinulosa, the "king of pteridophytes" under first-class state protection, 20 species under second-class state protection, 36 species under third-class state protection, and 4 species under Guangdong Province protection, including Taxus chinensis var. mairei. In addition, a large number of precious timber species, aromatic plants, medicinal plants, woody oil plants, woody grain plants, fruit trees and ornamental plants are introduced into the park.
