Orange Island
Juzizhou, located in the center of Xiangjiang River in Yuelu District, Changsha City, Hunan Province, covers an area of about 17 hectares. The overall development land area of the scenic spot reaches 91.64 hectares. It is the largest sandbank in the downstream of Xiangjiang River and the largest inland continent in the world,
From south to north, it traverses the middle of the river, looks at Yuelu Mountain in the west, and faces Changsha City in the East. It is surrounded by water on all sides and stretches for more than ten miles. The narrow part is about 40 meters wide and the wide part is about 140 meters wide. It is a long island.
There are many scenic spots in Juzizhou, such as Mao Zedong's youth art sculpture and tianwentai. According to historical records, Juzizhou was formed in the second year of Yongxing, Emperor Huidi of Jin Dynasty (305). It was formed by torrent accretion and sand accumulation. There are thousands of flowers, plants and vines in the scenic area, including 143 rare plants. There are also gulls, foxes, badgers and many other rare animals.
On December 18, 2017, Juzizhou was restored to the title of national AAAAA tourist attraction.
At 2:00 p.m. on July 11, 2020, affected by the flood, Juzizhou scenic area started the emergency closure measures according to the instructions of the superior and the requirements of flood control work.
Historical evolution
According to historical records, Juzhou was formed in the second year of Yongxing (305) of emperor Huidi of Jin Dynasty. It was formed by torrent whirling and sand accumulation. In the Qing Dynasty, there were only three islands, Shangzhou, Zhongzhou and xiazhou, "if you look at them, they are not connected.". Now it has evolved into a string of long islands, with niutouzhou at the top, shuiluzhou at the middle and fujiazhou at the bottom. Juzhou is famous for its rich production of beautiful oranges. The Xiangjiang River flows gently and the riverbed is wide. Because the downstream is supported by Dongting Lake, it forms oases. Juzizhou is famous for its bright light and seagulls in spring, yellow and orange pomelo and fragrant fragrance in autumn, cold ice and snow in deep winter. It is one of the eight scenic spots in Xiaoxiang. In the thirtieth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (after 1904), Changsha was opened to the outside world as a commercial port.
In 1925, Comrade Mao Zedong returned from Guangzhou to Hunan to lead the peasant movement. In the cold autumn, he revisited Juzizhou and wrote "Qinyuanchun · Changsha". Therefore, Juzizhou gained great fame.
In May 1950, Premier Zhou and Chairman Mao made a couplet. The first couplet reads "Orange Island, boats beside the island, boats go to the island but not go", and the second couplet reads "Tianxin Pavilion, pigeons in the pavilion, pigeons fly, pigeons do not fly".
In 1960, Juzhou Park was built at juzizhoutou, covering an area of 14.2 hectares.
In 1961, it was established as Juzhou Park, opened to the public in 1962, and renamed as Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area in 1998. The total area of the original scenic spot is about 17 hectares, and the open area is about 6 hectares.
In 2001, it was renamed as Changsha Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area Juzizhou scenic area. Covering an area of 17 hectares, it is a famous scenic spot in Hunan Province, including the stele of poetry, the orange Pavilion, and the sculpture square of "who controls the ups and downs".
In 2004, Changsha Municipal Party committee and government decided to upgrade the quality of Juzizhou for four years.
In 2010, Changsha Municipal Party committee and government put forward the goal of promoting the internationalization of the city, building Changsha into a cultural city with international influence, and establishing the goal of building tourism into a strategic pillar industry.
In August 2016, the National Tourism Administration decided to delist the seriously substandard Orange Island Scenic Spot, which is one of the second batch of delisted scenic spots in China.
On December 18, 2017, the quality level of national 5A scenic spot of Orange Island Scenic Spot was restored.

Location context
Juzizhou is located in the middle of Xiangjiang River in Yuelu District, Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces water on one side. Its geographical coordinates are 28 ° 10 ′ 23.40 ″ N and 112 ° 57 ′ 18.36 ″ E. Juzizhou bridge crosses from above and is 1km away from the center of Changsha City. Juzizhou has a flat terrain and is located in the middle of Xiangjiang River. It is 6km long from south to North and only 300m wide from the widest point. Juzizhou scenic area covers an area of 0.9164 square kilometers, including Juzizhou and fujiazhou, with a total construction area of about 1.3834 square kilometers.

From 1913 to 1918, young Mao Zedong studied in the first normal school of Hunan Province. At that time, in order to find the truth of saving the country and the people, Mao Zedong often swam across the Xiangjiang River with his classmates and carried out various activities at juzizhoutou. He often stood at juzizhoutou to think about changing the old world and establishing a new China. Later, Mao Zedong's wish finally came true. Jianwen Tiantai comes from this reason.
100m fountain
The 100 meter fountain is located in the 100 meter high fountain in Orange Island. When the 100 meter fountain sprays water, it is equivalent to a 30 story "building". Mao Zedong's youth art sculpture stands at the head of Changsha Orange Island. As the largest landscape project of Changsha Orange Island Scenic Area, the youth Mao Zedong's art sculpture is based on the image of Mao Zedong in his youth, highlighting the image of Mao Zedong with lofty aspirations and in his prime. The young Mao Zedong art sculpture was built in February 2007 with the approval of the general office of the CPC Central Committee. The statue is 32 meters high, 83 meters long and 41 meters wide.
Juzizhou Mao Zedong youth art sculpture has a special significance. In his youth, Mao Zedong once made clear his ambition in juzizhoutou, "ask the vast earth who is in charge of ups and downs.". Mao Zedong sculpture adopts reinforced concrete frame shear structure, the exterior material is granite stone, the total height is 32 meters.
Juzhou Park
Juzhou Park, covering an area of 14.2 hectares, is built from Xiangjiang bridge to the island. Facing the river, a Wangjiang Pavilion and veranda are built at Zhoutou. Facing it is a huge white marble monument. On the monument, Chairman Mao's handwriting "orange Zhoutou" is engraved, as well as the word "independent cold autumn, Xiangjiang River goes north, orange Zhoutou, seeing mountains everywhere, and forest soaking" in his poem "Qinyuan spring Changsha" written in the autumn of 1925.

Juzizhou has a beach square, grass sports culture square, hard tennis court, plastic basketball court, beach volleyball court, outdoor walking fitness road and natural astronomy camping base. The indoor sports and leisure area includes water sports center, sports club, coffee and tea reading bar, leisure bar, cultural and leisure center, etc.
In the middle of the park is a natural grassland sports and culture square covering an area of about 30000 square meters. The square is equipped with concealed surround sound equipment, which can meet the needs of holding large-scale cultural theme activities for about 60000 people. The grassland in the square adopts durable and trample resistant grass seeds, and allows citizens to enter the activities during non theme activities. The park also prepared hundreds of tents for the public to rent.
The beach square on the west side of the park is fully renovated and paved with fine sand for citizens to carry out daily beach sports.
