Luoyan island is located next to Moshan scenic area in Wuhan East Lake scenic area. It is across the lake from Moshan chutiantai. It has convenient transportation. You can go to the island by boat and car. The island has beautiful scenery, fresh air, pleasant scenery, simple and natural.

Historical legend

King Zhuang of Chu and Luoyan Island

It is said that during the spring and Autumn period, King Zhuang of Chu led his troops to the East Bank of the East Lake. Seeing the beautiful scenery of the lakes and mountains, he settled down along the Moshan area. Unexpectedly, general Dou Yuejiao defected and led the soldiers to kill him. King Zhuang beat the drum to supervise the battle and defeat the traitor. Dou Yuejiao fled to this desert island by boat and shot wild geese to satisfy his hunger.

One day, he shot and injured a wild goose, which flew to the camp of King Zhuang. The king of Zhuang bound up the wounded goose, led by the wild goose, and finally caught the traitor. In memory of the leading geese, King Zhuang named the desert island "Luoyan island".

Buddha and Luoyan Island

In the past, Luoyan island of East Lake was called Fojiao island. Its geographical location was a little northwest in the middle of Tuan lake of East Lake, or not far east of yanzhongzui of East Lake. Later, due to human reasons, Luoyan island became a peninsula to the east of yanzhongzui. Perhaps because of this, there are few people who can know that Luoyan island used to be called Fojiao Island, and even fewer people can know the related legends.

According to legend, a long time ago, the Buddha wanted to build a temple from the so-called West heaven at that time to the present Xinzhou in Wuhan.

One day, when Buddha passed yanzhongzui in East Lake, he found some goose feathers and the remains of a goose in a withered grass. The Buddha didn't understand, so he asked the people nearby. The common people replied that the fox did it. It turns out that yanzhongzui is a marsh surrounded by water on three sides. It is full of weeds all the year round. Therefore, every winter, groups of geese come here to spend the winter. However, I don't know why the fox nearby knew about it, so when the wild geese wintered here, the fox always came to attack. After listening to the common people's answers, the Buddha looked around and found that the waters to the east of yanzhongzui were long and narrow, and they were east-west. So he hurried to the shore to the east of yanzhongzui. When the Buddha came to the East Bank of yanzhongzui, he stood with his left foot and stepped on the surface of the lake with his right foot. Then, not far from the Bank of the lake, a foot shaped island appeared. Later, people called the island fo Jiao island.

Since the establishment of Fojiao Island, the geese that used to live on yanzhongzui have a new habitat. Of course, the foxes who specially come to yanzhongzui to attack geese have to go hungry.

After liberation, East Lake or East Lake scenic area was under the jurisdiction of Forestry Department of Central South Military Revolutionary Commission; in 1955, East Lake was under the jurisdiction of lake marsh Management Committee of East Lake District, and East Lake scenic area was under the jurisdiction of East Lake Scenic Area Management Office of East Lake District; in 1958, East Lake was under the jurisdiction of Hongshan District, and East Lake Scenic Area Management Office was under the jurisdiction of Wuhan landscape Bureau. The first director of the East Lake Scenic Area Management Office was Liu Wuyi, a native of Caidian. When Liu Wuyi was in charge of the East Lake Scenic Area Management Office, he made a number of development plans and implemented a number of development strategies, one of which was to change some old (stale) place names of the old East Lake.

Change Fojiao island to Luoyan island. In the past, Luoyan island was the main habitat of geese in the East Lake. Until the early 1960s, there were geese on Luoyan island. In the past, Luoyan island was a very beautiful place, especially at the turn of spring and summer, where thousands of birds were flying and thousands of birds were singing.

A brief introduction to Luoyan Island

In 1994, Huguang village signed a contract with American Standard Power Co., Ltd. and Hubei Gangxin Real Estate Co., Ltd. with an investment of more than 20 million yuan to jointly develop Luoyan island and take the lead in preparing to build a tourist attraction Island Amusement World. Now there are fishing village, water people, Cottage Resort and other entertainment areas on the island, "Yinbo building", "lovers building", "flute bridge" and other attractions.

East Lake Luoyan scenic spot

Donghu Luoyan scenic spot is one of the major scenic spots in Wuhan Donghu scenic spot (Tingtao Scenic Spot, Moshan scenic spot, Luoyan scenic spot, Piper scenic spot and Meiyuan scenic spot).

The water area of Luoyan scenic area takes Tuan Lake as the center, and the land area is mainly composed of coastal Peninsula, valley and hillock, supplemented by lake island. The aquatic wetland plants along the lake are very rich, and there are many kinds of land plants. The ancient and famous tree community with the most ornamental value is an eco-tourism resort where people and nature live in harmony.

Luoyan scenic spot is one of the three major scenic spots in the East Lake eco-tourism scenic spot, with a planning area of 10.24 square kilometers, including 6.17 square kilometers of land and 4.07 square kilometers of water area. The scenic spot is connected by land and water, and is rich in biological resources. There are not only terrestrial plant communities, but also primitive aquatic and wetland plant landscapes. Many peninsulas extend southward into the lake, and Cape Bay twists and turns“ The view of "ninety nine bay mouth" is gradually showing its graceful natural landscape features.

In the late 1990s, in order to implement the spirit of the relevant documents of Wuhan Municipal People's Government on the development and construction of the East Lake Luoyan scenic area, the East Lake scenic area began to prepare for the planning and construction of the East Lake Luoyan scenic area based on the master plan of the East Lake Scenic area. During the preparation period, the government seized the opportunity to invest and borrow money from the tourism government bonds, and formally implemented the planning and construction of Luoyan scenic spot at the beginning of this century. From 2001 to 2003, Donghu Bureau successively applied for three phases of tourism treasury bonds for the infrastructure construction of the natural ecological park (now open) in the scenic spot, in which a special landscaping section was set up to comprehensively improve the environment of the park (including the wetland). In addition, in order to cooperate with the implementation of the project, Donghu Bureau has compiled a series of regulatory planning, revision documents and EIA report of Luoyan scenic spot in combination with experts' opinions, which has laid a reliable basis for the protection, construction and development of wetland in Luoyan scenic spot.

Through the construction of the national debt project and the continuous introduction, cultivation and maintenance, the aquatic plant resources of the natural ecological park wetland in Luoyan scenic area have been adjusted and enriched. There are submerged, emergent and floating plant community structures in the water. The lake water has become clear and blue. The aquatic plant network has become a paradise for fish to play and reproduce, and a natural umbrella for migratory birds to inhabit. The park has formed the plant community structure of lotus, water lily, reed, cattail and wetland ecological forest (Taxodium ascendens) along the lake. With the deepening of the East Lake system reform, we will further build the wetland project and the Zouqi bird island protection project, which will play a very important role and significance in improving the ecological environment quality, enriching the plant species and protecting the aquatic birds in the scenic area.

Since 2000, the East Lake scenic spot has successively built eight landscapes, including Qinghe ancient bridge, magpie bridge meeting, Yanzhou cable bridge, Luzhou ancient ferry, Zhao's garden, ancient tree wonders, yanqipingsha, Luzhou falling geese, etc. With a total area of 345 mu, the natural ecological park is composed of four peninsulas extending into the water. The park has luxuriant vegetation, windy forests, crisscross harbors and branches, and numerous waterfowls. The unique natural scenery of the East Lake scenic spot has created its beautiful ecological environment and landscape. At the same time, a number of sculptures and buildings reflecting the folk culture and history of Chu have been built in the park, which makes you return to the natural beauty when enjoying the beautiful scenery However, at the same time, we walk into the historical corridor to appreciate the classics of Chu folk culture.
