Historical evolution
Ordos library, formerly known as Yikezhaomeng library, belongs to Ordos Culture Bureau. In 2001, it was renamed Ordos library and moved to Kangbashi in July 2009.
From the preparation to the initial stage (summer 1955-1963)
In the spring of 1955, the YIKEZHAO League cultural and health Party group organized and established the "YIKEZHAO League library Preparatory Committee" or "preparatory group" (without original documents and meeting records, sorted out by the memories of old Librarians), with members of Ren Peiwen (member of the cultural and health Party group), Wang Xiuyun, Yuan Caihua and Chen Yulan.
In April 1956, Yikezhaomeng library was built and opened to the public. Temporary responsible person: Wang Xiuyun (female), staff: Yuan Caihua (female), Chen Yulan (female). The library belongs to the nature of full institutional system, with annual financial approval of 200 yuan. It has a collection of more than 2000 books (including more than 300 books in Mongolian), more than 150 newspapers and periodicals in Mongolian and Chinese, and 80% of the collection is donated free of charge by all walks of life and local party and government organs. There are collection and editing, book lending, newspaper reading, library and other institutions. There are more than 100 reading seats in the library, with an average daily reception of more than 400 readers. Due to the small number of reading seats, the courtyard of the library often becomes a place for readers to read. In order to meet the borrowing needs of readers, the opening time of the library will be extended to 10 o'clock at night. Front activities include: Lectures on readers' knowledge, lectures on current situation, bibliographic recommendation, etc.
In the same year, Wang Xiuyun went to Inner Mongolia library to study and participated in the "regional public library staff training class" for three months. Since then, the internal management of Yikezhaomeng library began to transform to industry standardization.
In the summer of 1958, during the expansion of the anti rightist movement, Wang Xiuyun was transferred to Zhungeer banner for rural labor training with his wife, and was transferred from the library. At the same time, Chen Yulan, the library staff, was transferred to work.
From 1958 to 1959, Liu Qing served as a temporary director and presided over the library work. Later, he was transferred back to Tianjin at the end of 1959.
In 1960, there was no Librarian in the library. Affected by the movement, the work of the library was hindered. Only yuan Caihua and Lei Yuying were left.
In November 1961, Liu Zhizhuang was appointed deputy director of the library. He presided over the work, with 9 staff members and a collection of more than 30000 books, with an annual total budget of 6000 yuan.
In November 1961, Zhao Hengyu, a former lecturer group cadre of the alliance of Yike and ZHAOMENG, was transferred to the library to engage in book purchasing and cataloguing (concurrently as an accountant and security officer of the Library), and later became the backbone of the library.
In January 1962, Li Qun, the former head of the lecturer group of the Yikezhaomeng allied committee, was transferred to the Yikezhaomeng library as the librarian and presided over the library work.
In May 1963, influenced by the anti rightist movement, Yuan Caihua, one of the founders of the museum, called on Yikezhaomeng Xinhua Bookstore to work.
In 1963, Li Qun was transferred from the library. Liu Zhizhuang, deputy director of the library, presided over the work of the library.
Moved to Yikezhaomeng No.1 middle school to run a factory (autumn 1963 to early 1966)
In the autumn of 1963, according to the document of Yikezhaomeng culture and Education Bureau (resolution of Yishuo meeting), located outside the east wall of No.1 Middle School in Ordos City and the west wall of Dongsheng Park, the former Yikezhaomeng No.1 Middle School's work study factory was transferred to Yikezhaomeng library. Yikezhaomeng library was relocated for the first time, with a building area of about 1500 square meters. There are 5 staff members with a collection of more than 10000 books. The original building is under the "Preparatory Committee of YIKEZHAO League of literary and art circles".
From 1963 to 1965, the staff went to Beijing three times to purchase more than 30000 books to enrich the collection.
In 1964, the culture and education department (or the temporary Party group of wenweikou) of Yikezhaomeng office appointed Bai Zhiren as the temporary director of Yikezhaomeng library to preside over the work. Liu Zhizhuang, deputy director of the museum, was transferred to ZaoShao commune of Etuoke Banner as deputy director of the commune to receive labor training.
At the beginning of 1966, the library collected more than 70000 books and set up two complete catalogues of classification and titles. More than 10000 overdue newspapers and periodicals have been collected and bound. The rich collection has attracted a large number of readers, and the library receives more than 500 readers per day.
Cultural Revolution period (June 1966 to autumn 1976)
From May 1966 to 1967, under the influence of the "Cultural Revolution", Zhao Hengyu was designated as the current counter revolutionary and twice sent to Xinhe County, Hebei Province for labor reform. Yikezhaomeng library began to "close for revolution", only focusing on politics, not business, and normal work stopped. Because of no management, most of the 70000 books were stolen and robbed, and the facilities and equipment in the library were artificially damaged. During the period, Wang Xiuying served as the temporary person in charge and presided over the work.
In 1968, Yike ZHAOMENG Xinhua Bookstore invested 80000 yuan, and Yike ZHAOMENG library allocated 30000 yuan from local finance to build a 650 square meter brick concrete structure two-story office building in the original site of Ordos Xinhua Bookstore, which was completed at the end of that year (the property right was not clear at that time, but the property right was naturally transferred to Xinhua Bookstore because the library moved out).
In 1969, the Yikezhaomeng library moved to a joint building and worked with the Xinhua Bookstore of Yikezhaomeng. Xinhua Bookstore occupied the first floor and the library occupied the second floor, each occupying 325 square meters. In the same year, the "Yikezhaomeng Xinhua Bookstore and Yikezhaomeng library Revolutionary Committee" were established. Cui Ziqiang, director of the Revolutionary Committee, presided over the work of the two units, with separate financial departments. Vice Chairman Wang Wencheng, member Lei Yuying, Wang Xiuying and Zhou wanwan.
In October 1970, Wang Xiuying was transferred from the library to work in Tianjin Dagang Oilfield.
In 1974, the original name of the library was restored to Yikezhaomeng library. Sun Fengting was appointed as the Deputy librarian and presided over the work of the library. In that year, there was no fund for purchasing books, with a collection of 60000 books. Staff: Zhang Xiulan, Lei Yuying, Bao Jinyue, Naren, Xiao Deqing. The library has set up a Chinese book borrowing office to carry out regular borrowing work.
In January 1975, sun Fengting retired and became retired in April 1982
