Development history
LingXiao pavilion was originally a two-story viewing Pavilion "old lining Pavilion" beside Taiping mountain cable car terminus in 1960s and 1970s. Subsequently, the developer demolished and rebuilt the old building in 1993 and completed the Lingxiao Pavilion in today's Taiping mountain in 1997. You can get a panoramic view of Hong Kong from Lingxiao Pavilion.
LingXiao pavilion was designed by British architect Terry Farrell. It is a seven story building with a total area of 10400 square meters (112000 square feet). The design concept combines bowl and arched hand to show ceremony, presenting a unique architectural appearance.
In 2005, the famous architect of Hong Kong, Lu Yuanxiang, carried out renovation works for Lingxiao Pavilion, hoping to make use of the increased usable floor area of the shopping mall and the principle of original infrastructure to enrich facilities and expand space. The project includes the addition of shops, the sealing of the original viewing platform on the 5th floor as a concept viewing restaurant, the relocation of the viewing platform, the addition of an entrance to the peak Plaza and a large multimedia display. The whole project was completed in early 2006, reopened in September, and held a two-week celebration at the end of the year. Lingxiao Pavilion on the top of Taiping mountain is the terminal of the cable car on the top of the mountain and the site of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, which makes it an important scenic spot to visit Hong Kong.

Architectural features
The original shape of Lingxiao Pavilion is unique, inspired by the concept of "bowl" and "bow hand to show ceremony", which are combined together. In 2007, Hong Kong architect Lu Yuanxiang carried out a large-scale renovation project for Lingxiao Pavilion, aiming to retain the unique spirit of the building and the essence of the design, and inject new and dynamic elements at the same time. Some of the improvements include:
Mall entrance: the new design opens a new mall entrance on Fenli road in the East, so that the flow of people can be introduced into the mall, creating the atmosphere of the whole mall and strengthening the flow of people. The original entrance specially designed a transparent glass building, transparent glass in the light of the bright light, instantly attract the eyes of distant visitors. The peak cable station will also have a new dedicated entrance to connect with the shopping mall.
Atrium: one of the major changes in the renovation design is to build a new atrium in the center of the original shopping mall to enhance the transparency of the shopping mall and provide a new gathering place for tourists. Tourists gather in the atrium through the new arc-shaped channel. The expanded visual space allows tourists to understand the layout of shops on each floor of the mall more easily, and take the newly added escalator to the desired floor. When taking the elevator, it's like walking through the atrium space
