Hanyang tree
Hanyang tree is located in the courtyard of No.12, Fenghuang lane, Hanyang District, Wuhan city. It is an ancient ginkgo tree, aged 531 years (up to 2019), 28 meters high, 1.5 meters diameter at breast height and 21.8 meters crown width. It is the oldest tree in the urban area of Wuhan city. Because it is located in Hanyang, it is commonly known as "Hanyang tree" because of the Tang Dynasty poet Cui Hao's poem "Qingchuan experiences Hanyang tree, and the grass is luxuriant on parrot island".
During the reign of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Xingfang, the 15th ancestor of Zhang family in Baiquan, Hanyang, bought the courtyard No. 12, Fenghuang lane, and named the courtyard "Zhang Jiaozhong hall" and "Yinxing Xuan", calling himself "Yinxing Xuan master". "Gingko Pavilion" is a two-story courtyard in the north. It is 50 meters long from the gate No.12 of Fenghuang lane to the stele of "Hanyang tree" outside the iron railings of Hanyang tree park. It is about 20 meters wide from east to west, from the west wall to the inpatient department of the fifth hospital. He took the wing rooms on the East and west sides of the ginkgo tree as his son's study, bought a lot of books for his son, and made friends with some scholars. Later, Zhang Renfen bought several houses in the south, extending the Courtyard South to Xianzheng street, and named it "huaiqingzhai". Huaiqingzhai is 100 meters long from north to South and 20 meters wide from east to west.
The garden is a local landmark. In the Yuan Dynasty, it was the "Annan garden" of Annam King Chen Yiji. Later, it was owned by Shaoqing Wang Zhi of Taichang temple. In the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, it was the residence of the minister Xiao Ding. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Jiang Jue, the censor of the left capital of the inspection court, bought it and named it "Jiang's Forest Garden". Coincidentally, Jiang LAN, an old grandmother a few generations ago, is Jiang's sister. It can be said that Xing Fang Renfen and his son are the nephews of the next generation and return to their uncle's home. History and culture of Hanyang, towering trees of Hanyang
brief introduction
"Hanyang tree" originated from the poem "Yellow Crane Tower" written by the poet Cui Hao of Tang Dynasty. "Qingchuan experiences Hanyang trees, and the grass is luxuriant on parrot island". It shows Cui Hao's scene of "Qingchuan experiences Hanyang trees" from the Yellow Crane Tower in a vigorous and magnificent poem: on the other side of the Yangtze River, Hanyang trees are vividly visible, and the distance is green. Therefore, Hanyang tree refers to the trees in Qingchuan Pavilion. Up to now, "Hanyang tree" is mainly the nickname of an ancient ginkgo tree at No. 11, Fenghuang lane, the southern foot of Fenghuang Mountain in Hanyang, next to the fifth hospital of Wuhan. After 531 years, it still stands tall and luxuriant. Its height is 25 meters, its diameter at breast height is 1.36 meters, and its projection area is 334 square meters.

Scenic spot planning
Wuhan municipal government has decided to spend 3 billion yuan to rebuild the "Hanyang tree" in the Yellow Crane Tower by Cui Hao, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, in three to five years. After consulting experts at home and abroad, it was decided to invest 3 billion yuan in three to five years to protect and extend the unique history and regional culture of old Hanyang, which covers a total of 1086 Mu from the Yangtze River beach to Guiyuan temple. Chinese real estate developers from Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and other countries and regions came to negotiate and sign contracts. According to the plan, the new buildings in this area will highlight the characteristics of the green brick gables and sloping roofs of Hubei folk houses, combine the functional parts of the building with patio and courtyard, and locally design the light air corridor. At that time, Hanyang tree, Catholic Church, Hanyang government office, West Street, Xianzheng street and other unique cultural landscapes will be located among them. The "Hanyang tree" with a history of more than 800 years will reproduce the images in Cui Hao's poems.
Protection of ancient trees
In 1985, when Hanyang District Bureau of landscape architecture surveyed the resources of ancient and famous trees in the whole district, the ancient ginkgo was found in Fenghuang lane of Hanyang. At that time, the ancient tree was surrounded by the houses of the surrounding residents. Due to the limited space, it did not grow well, and the branches and leaves on one side of the tree were very sparse. In order to protect the ancient tree, Hanyang District landscape Bureau submitted a report to the municipal government, applying for 200000 yuan for the demolition of houses. In this report, the ancient ginkgo was first called "Hanyang tree". And built an area of more than 1000 square meters of small courtyard, there are special management. Fenghuang Lane in Hanyang district is also renamed Jianqiao street and Hanyang tree lane. According to Professor Li Yuhe, the leader of the national famous ancient trees research group, this Hanyang tree is under special protection. It grows well among the ancient trees and can live another 500 years if it is well protected.
legend
There is a legend about Hanyang tree
Once upon a time, there was a clever girl from other places. Her embroidery was excellent. She embroidered all the flowers in the world, but she never embroidered gingko. Once, she accidentally saw a gingko scroll and thought it was very beautiful, so she vowed to embroider a simple and elegant gingko flower as a dowry. She heard that there was a big ginkgo tree in Hanyang, so she came to Hanyang to visit the tree and wanted to embroider ginkgo flowers. The local old man said to her, "Ya, you can't see gingko. We haven't seen gingko since we lived here for decades. We only see the petals on the ground." The girl was not discouraged, so she built a hut beside the tree. She looked at the tree at dawn, looked at all the branches, and didn't sleep at midnight. Look, look, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait for 77 49 days, the flower still does not open. People advised her to go back, but she insisted on waiting until the gingko blossoms. A few days later. Suddenly one day, the girl smelled a faint fragrance, quickly look, flowering! She hastened to paint on the embroidered cloth. Unfortunately, just half of the painting, the gingko flowers withered, and the girl cried sadly. From then on, she didn't talk to others. For a while, she stayed under the tree and murmured to herself. For a while, she ran into the hut and cried. Some say she's crazy.
In this way, ninety-nine and eighty-one days later, the girl died melancholy in her hut, leaving a complete gingko embroidery beside her. The good neighbor buried her under the ginkgo tree. Just the year after the girl died, the ginkgo tree suddenly blossomed, many beautiful and lasting. Local people say that the death of the girl moved the gingko tree fairy and made the flowers bloom more, more beautiful and longer. It is also said that the soul of the girl entered the ginkgo tree and integrated with ginkgo.
