Erdaoqiao Mosque

Erdaoqiao mosque, located in Erdaoqiao, Jiefang South Road, Tianshan District, Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with a total area of 2400 square meters, is an Islamic mosque.

Historical evolution

In 1993, abdusikar rehemudula graduated from Xinjiang Islamic Economic College and became Imam of Erdaoqiao mosque. Later, he was transferred to Imam of Baida temple in 2001.

In 2004, as one of the tourism projects of Xinjiang International Bazaar, Erdaoqiao mosque was officially opened to the public. Tourists can buy tickets to visit. This was the only mosque open to the public in Urumqi at that time. In order to promote tourism in Xinjiang International Bazaar, Erdaoqiao Mosque Management Committee officially opened to the outside world after obtaining permission from religious affairs departments of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Urumqi. In order to ensure that the Muslim daily religious activities continue to be held smoothly, the managers of Erdaoqiao mosque explained in detail the various periods of religious activities, so as to avoid the conflict with the visiting time of tourists.

Scale system

Erdaoqiao mosque is a religious activity place registered by Urumqi ethnic and religious department, with a total area of 2400 square meters, which can accommodate 300 people to carry out religious activities at the same time. The interior decoration is mainly Islamic style.

Exchange and cooperation

On April 8, 2012, on the way to Beijing for a foreign affairs visit to China, the Turkish Foreign Affairs delegation, accompanied by leaders of relevant Chinese departments, visited Yanghang mosque and Erdaoqiao mosque in Tianshan District of Urumqi. The Imam of the mosque introduced the history of the mosque and the current situation of educational administration, and answered questions raised by members of the delegation. At 18 pm on the same day, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the ceremony at the Yanghang mosque, and then the delegation visited and went shopping in Xinjiang International Bazaar.
