The best time to watch the moon is in autumn. There are many poems chanting the moon of Emei, such as: "Yiyi can't bear to say goodbye to me, who is like the half moon of Emei" (Lu You); "the clouds gather in Wuxia gorge at dusk, and the autumn moon slants in Emei" (Wang Shizhen); "a piece of moon flies in my memory, and I roll the curtain to see it" (Zhu YIZUN); "the Buddha's lamp is cold and silent, and the clouds are green, and the mountains spit the moon" (Liu Yubo). The "night scene of Xiangchi" is the most emotional one among the ten scenes of Emei.

According to the analysis of Huang Da Shou's "scenery of Emei" published by China cultural service in 1947, "the best place to see the moon in Mount Emei is the xixianchi, because there are mountains on the top of the xixianchi and mountains behind it, only the front is open and there are many trees nearby. Although Jinding is high, it only looks at the moon from the sky without setting off. Below the XIXIANGCHI, there are overlapping peaks and many trees, so the scenery is not as beautiful as that of XIXIANGCHI. So the night moon in the Xiangchi lake has become one of the ten scenic spots in Emei. Some of them are more beautiful than the autumn moon in Pinghu Lake

Every moonlit night, the clouds gather and the fog gather, the sky is blue, the mountains are quiet, the autumn wind is cool, a bright mirror is obliquely embedded in the clean and cloudless blue sky, only the tall and straight fir forest is bleating and whispering. Moonlight through the dense dark green jungle, the main hall, half moon platform, xixianchi, Chuxi Pavilion, Yinyue tower, immersed in the dim moonlight, solemn and quiet. In the moonlight, the ancient temple looks like an elephant head lying on one side. Against the blue sky, the silhouette is clear: the main hall looks like the forehead, the wing rooms on both sides look like the ears, and the stone steps under the half moon platform look like a long elephant trunk. It is said that poet Li Bai died of "fishing for the moon in the water", which is only a legend. But his love for the moon, especially the moon on Mount Emei, made him sentimentally attached all his life. It is true that his feelings are connected. The poet left Sichuan, left his relatives for a long journey, and chanted the eternal quatrains on the pingqiang River: "the moon on Mount Emei is half in autumn, and the shadow is flowing into the pingqiang River" (the song of the moon on Mount Emei)
