The stone Maitreya statue of Dafosi temple in Xinchang County, Shaoxing City is 1.91 meters high, 13.74 meters high, 4.87 meters high head, 2.8 meters long ears, 1.28 meters wide mouth and 10.6 meters apart knees. The statue of Buddha has beautiful bones, thin lips, ears and shoulders. It is exquisitely carved, with flowing lines and elegant demeanor. It expresses Buddha's quiet, intelligent, firm and detached inner world. When you look at it carefully, it makes people feel creepy and contemplative, with deep artistic conception. The proportion of each part of the Buddha is based on the perspective principle, and the head is specially enlarged, so that the viewer can receive enlightenment and baptize when looking up at the Buddha's face, but also grasp the propriety of magnification. The Great Buddha was a great creation of art and religion at that time, representing the highest level of craftsmanship at that time. Compared with Yungang Grottoes and Longmen Grottoes, the age and value of the statues are the only outstanding achievements of the early Grottoes in southern China.

Monks, monks, monks and monks three generations of monks were chiseled and built in thirty years. According to the records: in 486 ad, Seng Hu came to Shicheng and saw Xianji rock, which was tens of feet high, cutting the green wall. The water below the wall was Ding Dong. He heard the music of the Qin strings, but he didn't feel that he was reciting Maitreya. He worshipped the ground and set up the grand wish of "original Maitreya, respect for thousands of feet". After that, he raised money everywhere and prepared carefully. Ten years later, he officially started his business. But after a year of operation, he was exhausted. Then he chiseled out a relief face, and he could not afford to fall ill. On his deathbed, he told his apprentice Seng Chu, "I made it. I don't expect it to be finished in my life. Regeneration should be my ambition.". After the death of Seng Hu, he continued to carve. Although he had been working hard for a long time, it was difficult to continue because of the arduous project and lack of funds. In the 507 year of Tianjian, he got the full support from Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty and Xiao Wei of Jian'an king, and sent sengyou to design and direct the construction. Sengyou was a generation of eminent monks at that time, a first-class master of architecture and sculpture. The capital and talent were guaranteed, and the Buddha was completed. It is known as the "holy mark of Sansheng" in the world.
