The museum is affiliated to the Institute of Chinese culture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is dedicated to the collection, preservation, research and exhibition of Chinese cultural relics, such as painting, calligraphy and different types of Arts and crafts. Mission of the Pavilion
The Heritage Museum of the Chinese University of Hong Kong is dedicated to the collection, preservation, research and exhibition of Chinese cultural relics. It introduces the long-standing Chinese art, humanistic spirit and cultural heritage to university members and the public of Hong Kong. The Museum of cultural relics is based on the collection of machine loan cultural relics to carry out academic research, promotion and exchange

As a teaching Museum of the University, the museum works closely with the Department of art to provide in-depth research in the field of Museology and art history. It also works with other departments of the university to develop interdisciplinary research on Chinese art in the fields of society, culture, technology and history

Collection introduction
The collection of the museum has increased over the years, with a total collection of more than 13000 pieces

In 1973, the Museum of cultural relics entered the library. The library originally collected more than 1000 kinds of paintings and calligraphy from Ming and Qing Dynasties to modern Guangdong, which laid the foundation for the collection of paintings and calligraphy. Since then, it has received donations from various parties, dating back from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the song and Yuan Dynasties

Inscriptions on gold and stone and calligraphy on steles are the focus of collection since the establishment of the museum. There are many rare and rare editions. In terms of craftsmanship, China's ancient ceramics are the most systematic. Other categories, such as bronze Yi ware, jade, carving, lacquerware, enamel, ivory carving, bamboo carving, literary games and statues, also have their own fine works. The museum also has a number of academic cultural relics for special research, including ancient seals, inscriptions, Shantuo steles, famous calligraphy and paintings, Qin and Han bamboo slips, Yixing purple sand, and export Ceramics and so on, are rich in characteristics and reach the international level of exquisite cultural relics

Teaching and research status
Research
The museum's colleagues have carried out a number of research projects, which are based on the collection of objects, public and private collections, as well as cooperation with other departments and scholars at home and abroad. Research topics include calligraphy and painting, seals, rubbings, ceramics, as well as scientific and technological verification of antiquities. teaching
As a University Museum, Tong Ren of the museum actively participates in teaching. The Museum of cultural relics provides teaching materials on Chinese history and culture for relevant departments, especially the Department of art. Besides participating in the teaching of art history, it also provides internships for undergraduates and postgraduates of the Department. In addition, it provides a venue for the graduation exhibition of art department every year

Other facilities
Reference Library
There is a reference library in the museum. The museum exchanges and exchanges the donated books with cultural institutions at home and abroad, as well as the reference books donated by collectors. In addition, there is also a cultural relic image database, which collects photos and slides of Chinese art works at home and abroad to provide relevant reference materials for researchers of Chinese cultural relic art history at home and abroad

Repair studio
In 1997, the museum set up a working office, with a cultural relics repair studio, a painting and calligraphy mounting room, a photography room and a carpentry room. On the one hand, it provides technical assistance for the museum's exhibitions, and on the other hand, it also conducts research on the preservation and restoration of paintings, calligraphy and cultural relics

Association of Library friends
In 1981, a group of people who love Chinese art and support the work of the museum set up the association of Museum friends to actively participate in and promote the activities of the museum. Many cultural relics will be given to the museum by the association, and scholarships will be offered to the students of art department. In recent years, with the increasing number of members and active activities, the museum has played an important role in strengthening the ties between the museum and the society
