It is located on the north slope and foothills of Tai Mo Shan in Tai Po District, new territories. Founding history
In 1949, a large number of Chinese refugees poured into Hong Kong, the British colony at that time. Still
Together with Mr. Norman Wright and Mr. Hu tingsheng, the Thai brothers of Lord Roland and Sir Horace founded kaaa in 1951 to research and develop agricultural technology for these Chinese refugees. Sir Hollis happened to find an unattended orange tree in Gaoling, Tai Mo Shan. At that time, it was generally believed that Hong Kong's Gaoling was too steep and humid for planting citrus trees. However, the orange tree on the mountain could still grow, which gave rise to the idea of setting up Kadoorie Farm. Five years later, in 1956, the government leased the land on the site and operated it under the name of "Kadoorie experimental and extension farm", demonstrating efficient and profitable farming and animal husbandry methods. At the same time, efforts were made to improve the breed of livestock and train Hong Kong farmers and soldiers stationed in Hong Kong.
On January 20, 1995, the Legislative Council of Hong Kong formally incorporated Kadoorie Farm and botanical garden. 2006 is the 50th anniversary of Kadoorie Farm and botanical garden.

The thinking of students should guide them to care more about nature. Department of animal conservation
The Ministry of animal conservation was established in 1994 as the Ministry of animal conservation and education. Its projects include the veterinary hospital of the wildlife rescue center (converted from the old pigsty site), the education exhibition at the Raptor care center, the Asian turtle conservation and breeding program, and close cooperation with world wildlife conservation organizations.
Wildlife Rescue Center
It is the only wildlife rescue facility in Hong Kong. Since 1994, the Hong Kong government has approved the Kadoorie Farm to carry out the work of wildlife rescue. The veterinary hospital specializes in treating injured wildlife and tries its best to return the recovered animals to their original habitats. The rescue centre also provides care for the confiscated animals entrusted by the Hong Kong government and refers the rare animals to internationally recognized institutions with conservation and breeding facilities. The rescue center has the following four missions:
Take in native species and help them rejoin nature.
To serve as a temporary shelter.
Support artificial breeding program and conserve species gene source.
Assist in research and provide valuable genetic materials for analysis and research.
In December 2001, the wildlife rescue center received more than 8000 freshwater turtles smuggled from Malaysia to China's game market for food, which were seized by the Hong Kong government. Finally, the center found suitable accommodation for about 4500 freshwater turtles overseas.

With the assistance of external consultants and staff of the agriculture, fisheries and Conservation Department, two turtle catches were carried out in the streams of Tai Po Kau nature reserve to increase the number of wild turtles. In addition, we also carry out conservation and breeding programs for Hong Kong Betta, and monitor the ex situ conservation program of the little tree frog in Kadoorie Farm and botanical garden. Department of plant conservation
The Department of plant conservation was established in 1994 to manage a number of projects, all of which focus on plant conservation, most of which also focus on reproduction. In the park, we not only care for more than 1000 species of protozoa, but also conduct extensive field investigation in Hong Kong and South China.
