synonym
Undersea villages generally refer to the earthquake sites of undersea villages in Hainan
Submarine village, Hainan geological relics scenic spot, the only earthquake ruins found in the history of China, which was caused by a rare earthquake more than 300 years ago.
Overview of scenic spots
The underwater village is the only ancient cultural site in China where the land collapsed into the sea due to the earthquake. Now, at low tide, the shallow sea area from Puqianwan to beichuanggang is 10 km long and 1 km wide from east to west. The ruins of the ancient village can be seen on the beach from Dongzhaigang to Puqianwan. Through the sea water, we can see the orderly arrangement of basalt stone coffins, tombstones, stone wells and chongmi stones.
On the beach near Dongzhaigang, there is a well preserved stage made of square stones. Four kilometers to the north of Puqianwan, there is the ancient "Ren Village" subsidence site. Through the 10 meter deep sea water, the courtyard and uneven house remains of the village can be discerned. Under the sea between Puqianwan and beichuanggang, a "chastity archway" with fine carving, four pillars and three holes still stands in the water. Juewei gully, which runs across the sea floor of Dongzhai port, is a fissure left by the earthquake, with a depth of more than 10 meters and a width of more than 20 meters. There is still a stone bridge across both sides of the ancient river in the east of the ditch.
People from the seismological Department believe that this situation shows that the great earthquake was caused by the subsidence of the whole body and the vertical drop of the block. This is rare in the history of earthquakes in China. There is some truth in this statement. Every year after the Qingming Festival, when the sea becomes clear, on the beach not far from Dongzhai port, which is what the fishermen call "Village stone", you can see a well preserved ancient stage made of square stones. The stone slabs are densely covered with oysters and shells. When the tide goes out of the sea, people from nearby villages go to the sea, and some people often come here to catch fish and shrimp.
In recent years, many domestic and foreign tourists have come to Hainan to visit and explore the ancient villages. They are deeply attracted by this mysterious earthquake site. They pay attention to the ancients who sank to the bottom of the sea because of the earthquake disaster in those years, and yearn for today's scenic, beautiful and strange tourist resort like crystal palace
Earthquake disaster
The complex geological movement brings disasters and wonders to human beings. Hainan Island not only has mysterious submarine grassland, but also has magical submarine villages. This undersea village is located at the bottom of the Bay from Dongzhaigang of Haikou City to Puqian town of Wenchang City. During the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty (1605 AD), a great earthquake caused disaster to Hainan Island. At that time, about 100 square kilometers of land, a total of 72 villages slowly sank, falling into the sea about 3-4 meters vertically, which is rare in the world. From May to June every year, when the sea water ebbs, you can see the ruins of villages in the sea, such as courtyard, stele square, stone bridge, ancient stage, etc. it is the only undersea earthquake ruins found in China.
Where is the value
The vicissitudes of life, the ancient appearance still exists, let you appreciate the mysterious changes of nature. It not only provides valuable historical scenery and various intuitive information for the study of seismology, but also deeply attracts Chinese and foreign tourists. According to experts from the Seismological Bureau of Hainan Province, Hainan is rich in geological relic resources similar to those mentioned above, including volcanic activity relic, tectonic denudation relic, meteorite relic, marine erosion relic, karst relic and hot mineral spring relic.
Geological relics
At present, Hainan has developed quite a lot of geological relics scenic spots, including Wuzhishan, Qixianling, Tongguling, Dongshanling and a series of mountains, as well as xiaodongtian, luobidong, Huangdi cave, Jiulong cave, Longmen wave, Tianyahaijiao granite and many other strange rocks and caves. There are more undeveloped and potential geological relics. 31 mountain peaks with an altitude of more than 1000 meters, more than 10 caves to be developed, more than 200 small islands composed of basalt, granite, river and Sea Sediments around Hainan, and South China Sea islands composed of coral reefs are excellent geological resources.
These geological relics formed under the long geological process not only have high scientific research value, but also are ideal places for science popularization and tourism activities.
Historical records
According to historical records, the Qiongzhou earthquake occurred at midnight on July 13, 1605 in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, with a magnitude of 7.5 and an epicenter intensity of 10. The epicenter was between Tashi of Qiongshan county and Fuqian of Wenchang county. Qiongshan, Chengmai, Lingao and Wenchang were the worst hit counties. The amplitude of land subsidence caused by the earthquake is generally 3 to 4 meters, and the maximum amplitude of land subsidence is about 10 meters. The land subsidence area is more than 100 square kilometers. The large earthquake caused the whole subsidence block to drop vertically, which is rare in the history of earthquakes at home and abroad. After hundreds of years, the earthquake site has become a unique underwater landscape. On the beach not far from Dongzhai port, you can see an ancient stage. The stone slabs are densely covered with oysters and shells. From the north of Dongzhai Harbor, about 10 meters deep, about 4 kilometers north of fuqianwan coast, there is an ancient village called Rencun. Sitting on a motorboat, through the sea, the remains of the courtyard and uneven houses in the village can be discerned. Under the sea floor between Puqian Bay and beichuang harbor, people can clearly see a well carved "chastity archway" standing underwater, with groups of fish and shrimp shuttling around the spleen archway, just like the mythical "Dragon Palace on the sea floor". "Undersea village" is a potential undersea tourist area.
