Basic introduction
The Nanyang overseas Chinese mechanic Anti Japanese monument is located about 200 meters north of Huating temple in Xishan Forest Park, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, at the foot of Luohan mountain on the right side of the stilt to Xishan highway. It was completed on July 7, 1989. The monument is 9 meters high (plus the base height of 12 meters). The base is engraved with the four characters "chizi meritorious service". The top of the monument has the design of the Nanyang overseas Chinese mechanic Honor Medal of that year. It is a towering monument In 2001, it was listed as a patriotic education base by the Chinese Federation of overseas Chinese.
After the July 7th Lugouqiao Incident in 1937, the Japanese aggressors launched a comprehensive war of aggression against China; the anger of the whole nation's compatriots against Japan was surging; the overseas Chinese shared a common hatred, filled with righteous indignation, and actively resisted Japan.
In 1939, at the call of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, chairman of the Nanyang overseas Chinese Association for the relief of refugees from the motherland, the Chinese people living abroad responded positively and signed up to fight against the Japanese aggressors one after another, setting off a vigorous Anti Japanese and national salvation movement. More than 3000 enthusiastic Nanyang overseas Chinese machinists, full of a high sense of national responsibility for the rise and fall of the country, resolutely left their parents and relatives, far away He returned to the motherland and formed a "Nanyang overseas Chinese mechanic team" to devote himself to the sacred work of Anti Japanese and national salvation.
At that time, China's coastal ports had fallen, and the war of resistance against Japan entered the most difficult stage. Yunnan is the most important strategic base, the rear area and the front line of the Anti Japanese war. The only remaining road in western Yunnan is the Yunnan Burma Road, which is the only international channel. The world and overseas Chinese support our anti Japanese military supplies by this transport line. Regardless of their personal safety, they braved the flames of war to rush to transport supplies and soldiers, assemble and repair vehicles, and train mechanics.
During this period, more than 1000 overseas Chinese died for their country because of war, traffic accidents and epidemics.
