Gaocao temple, founded in 1468, has 32 internal buildings, including Yaowang hall, cangfo cave and Haihui tower.

Gaocao Chan temple was founded in 1468. The Zen master Haiyong of Cao Dongzong created Wuxiang Dharma. He killed grass to get enlightenment from nunnery. He said, "killing grass has established the temple in the spring and Autumn period. The four impermanent dharmas pay for each other. There is no time to fight. The sun and the moon are just waiting for rest." so the temple is named "Gaocao Chan Temple". There are 32 temples in the temple, including Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, Yaowang hall, cangfo cave and Haihui tower. Gaocao temple was destroyed many times, all of which were destroyed during the cultural revolution. In 1982, master Cixiang led the public to repair the upper, middle and lower three Buddhist temples and remodel the Buddha statues to make the temple shine again. In 1992, Buddhist monk Foyuan of Yunmen mountain, Guangdong Province, saw that the temple had become a dangerous one. He was determined to expand the ancestral court of the temple and made it into a jungle.
