It is composed of three halls and four horizontal walls, four corner watchtowers, two horizontal houses outside the enclosure, moat and waisai wall. The rear enclosure is arc-shaped, with a width of 65 meters and a depth of 73 meters. The total building area is more than 6000 square meters, and the total area is more than 16000 square meters. The whole enclosed house is surrounded by walls and is inaccessible. There are four story turrets in the four corners and the North Center of the enclosure. The turrets are connected with the horse racing gallery.
characteristic
Longtian Shiju is one of the most complete Hakka dwellings in Longgang area. Its architectural style is unique. There is a pond similar to a moat in front of the enclosure. The semicircular river bank and the external wall form a "turtle back" pattern, which is rarely seen in earth buildings.
The garden around the house is a typical Lingnan Hakka manor.
The four story turret and the Dragon hall are built with wind and fire Gables on both sides of the walls, which makes the whole building look tall and majestic. They are the buildings that embody the architectural aesthetics in Hakka enclosed houses.
Cultural relics
There is a forehead on the gate of Longtian Shiju, which is engraved: "Longtian Shiju was established in the 17th year of Daoguang by Dingyou in midsummer." The couplet on the wall is: "Longmen unveils the spring list with pride, and Fengzhao establishes the new farmland", implying the origin of Longtian's name. The couplet shows that the Huang family attaches great importance to education and talent cultivation.
On the front of the memorial archway of Longtian Shiju, it says "a list of mountains", which refers to the Grand View in front of Shiju's door. Standing against the door is a view of mountains. The "Lu Tai promotion" on the back of the memorial archway means that Huang's children at home and abroad, who are looking forward to going out, are able to have a good fortune and go all the way.
In the ancestral hall of Longtian Shiju, there is a plaque of "jade, swallow, stone and Lin". The words and sentences are from the Song Dynasty poet Wu Yong's "fishing", which means that the Huang family prays for good luck. There are two small corridors in the patio. On the lintel of the patio, one is engraved with "ploughing" and the other is engraved with "cultivating virtue", which is the ancestor's instruction to the younger generation. Virtue is in the heart to cultivate one's character, and ploughing is in order to regulate one's family.
