Wangfu stone
Wangfu stone is the most famous one in Tushan. The story of "Dayu controlled the flood and never entered his home three times" is well known in China. However, if not carefully considered, few people would think that the place where this story happened was not the hometown of the Yellow River, but on the Bank of the Huaihe River. Tu Shan is the witness of this story for more than 4000 years.
Tourism information
This mountain close to the Huaihe River is Tushan, also known as Dangtu mountain. It is located in the southeast of Huaiyuan County, on the East Bank of Huaihe River, and is only ten kilometers away from Bengbu City in Anhui Province. This is where the ancient Tushan kingdom is located. The mountain opposite to Tushan is called Jingshan, and between the two mountains, the Huaihe River flows to the northeast. It is the so-called "two towering peaks, overlooking the Huaihe River.". Jingshan gorge, the second gorge of Huaihe River, was formed. Although today's Tu Jing two mountains are facing each other from east to west, in the legend of the distant Yao and Shun dynasties, they are connected as one.
Historical legend
It is said that more than 4000 years ago, the Yellow River Basin in China had a series of extraordinary floods. The Yellow river changed its course to the South and captured the middle and lower reaches of the Huaihe River
Swimming in the river, the Yellow River grabs the Huaihe River into the sea, which makes the whole nation fall into unprecedented disaster. At this time, Yao presided over a meeting of tribal alliance to study the flood problem. People unanimously recommended that the leader of Xia nationality, who had the tradition of water control, was Yu's father. The method of "blocking" was used to build dams to block the flood. But the flood was so fierce that the dykes built were frequently washed down by the flood. He was put to death because of poor water control.
Yu inherited his father's ambition, determined to cure the flood and benefit the people. In order to find a good way to control the flood, he trudged thousands of miles from the Yellow River basin to Tushan on the edge of the Huaihe River. In the end, with a piece of loyalty, Yu got the secret collection of "water classic" from the Tushan chieftain Meng, and won the heart of Meng's beloved daughter. Meng's beloved daughter is also Sima Qian's record of "emperor Qi after Xia, son of Yu" in Shiji xiabenji. His mother is the daughter of Tu Shan
Yu married Tu Shan's daughter, and soon after his marriage he left home to control the water. He did not return home for 13 years. Yu used the method of dredging to control the flood. He opened channels to drain and dredge the river, leading the flood all the way to the Yellow Sea. In order to dredge the Huaihe River, Yu split Jingshan and Tushan. From then on, the two mountains were opposite to each other. At this time, his wife, Tu Shanshi, also gave birth to his son Qi. The baby was crying. Yu passed by the door. Hearing the cry, he didn't go in to visit him. The eternal story of "going through the house three times but not entering" has spread.
Tu Shan's daughter looked at the direction of her husband's flood control day and night, but when she looked through the autumn water, she did not see Yu's return. After thinking about it all the time, she finally turned into a stone to look out for her husband and sat at the east end of Tu mountain. Later generations called it Qimu stone. Tu Shan's daughter has been looking at this for more than 4000 years.
