He Shuheng's former residence is located in baozichong, Shatian Township, more than 70 kilometers west of Ningxiang County. The former residence is an ordinary farmhouse built in 1785. The plane is square, sitting east facing west, civil structure, there are 23 main rooms, left and right wing rooms, small green tile roof, mud brick courtyard wall, covering an area of about 2600 square meters. At the top of the gate is a seven character horizontal tablet inscribed by Liao Mosha, which is the former residence of martyr he Shuheng. The inner terrace of the gate is 35 meters long and 23 meters wide, and the main hall is just across the terrace. Double leaf wooden door and square window. The corridor under the eaves and the patio in the middle. In 2013, it was listed in the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

In December 2016, he Shuheng's former residence was listed in the list of national Red Tourism classic scenic spots.

There is a clear spring coming down from the back mountain and flowing around the house. The scenery is pleasant.

On the left is the bronze statue of he Shuheng (created by Zhu Weijing, a famous sculptor in China) on May 30, 2006 (the day before the 130th birthday of Comrade He Shuheng), which was set up in his former residence by Changsha Municipal Party committee and municipal government.

Life of martyrs

He Shuheng was born in 1876 in Ningxiang, Hunan Province. In 1914, he Shuheng and Mao Zedong met in Changsha. They were like-minded and became close friends. 1918

In April, he Shuheng, Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen and other organizations established the Xinmin society, which was once the executive chairman. In 1920, he initiated and organized the Russian research association with Mao Zedong, and participated in the Changsha Communist group. He attended the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China in July 1921. After the meeting, he served as a member of the Hunan District Committee of the CPC. After the 1927 Ma RI incident, he founded an underground printing factory for the party in Shanghai to carry out the party's underground work. In 1928, he went to Sun Yat sen University in Moscow of the Soviet Union and studied in special classes with Xu Teli, Wu Yuzhang, Dong Biwu and Lin Boqu. Xu Teli once said that in Moscow, our old comrades go with Comrade Shuheng politically. After returning to China in July 1930, he took charge of the work of the national mutual aid society in Shanghai, rescued the arrested comrades and organized revolutionaries to go to the Soviet area.

In November 1931, he Shuheng went to the central revolutionary base and joined the leadership of the central government of workers and peasants with Mao Zedong. He was elected member of the central executive committee of the Soviet Republic of China, and served as a member of the people's Procuratorial Committee for workers and peasants of the Provisional Central Government, a member of the people's internal affairs committee and the chairman of the provisional court of the central government. In October 1934, after the Long March, the main force of the central red army stayed in the central base area and insisted on guerrilla warfare. On February 24, 1935, on the way from Jiangxi to Fujian, he died in the battle of Changting. He was 59 years old.
