Development history
Wuxi has been the hometown of silk since ancient times. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the silk industry has developed and merchants have gathered. The name of "Silk wharf" is well known. At the beginning of the last century, national industry and commerce were surging. Silk reeling, textile and flour became the three pillar industries of Xicheng. With the opportunity of Shanghai's port opening and the dream of "saving the nation through industry", Zhou (Shunqing), Xue (Nanming, shouxuan) and Yongtai silk factory, together with many Silk Reeling Enterprises in Xicheng, have been recognized as the "silk capital" at home and abroad after more than 30 years of hard work. In the 1930s, the total number of Wuxi silk mills, silk output, quality and tonnage of export all ranked the first in China, and they bravely established the trend of the times.
