Qianqiu Bridge
Qianqiu bridge. Originally known as Zhangyi bridge, it is located on the east side of No. 4 Hongdong street, Xinchang Town.
It was initiated by Qian Jizhang during the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722). It was rebuilt in 1785. It was repaired in 1863. In 1987, the government funded the renovation.
The single hole semi-circular stone arch bridge, east-west trend, across donghenggang. It is 28 meters long, 3.90 meters wide and 5.40 meters high. The arch span of the bridge opening is 7.70 meters, and the arch rings are laid side by side in sections. Dongtu stone level is 22 steps, Xitu stone level is 21 steps. The railings on both sides are 0.95 meters high, with four stone pillars in them, and small stone lions carved on the top of the pillars. There are stone bridge couplets on the north and south sides of the pier. On the south side, it is to wish heaven always produces good people and people always do good deeds. On the north side, it is to help people, that is to say, to help oneself. To cultivate happiness, one must cultivate virtue. Qianqiu bridge is the only one arch ring stone bridge in the thirteen ring cave of Xinchang Town. "Qianqiuyeyue" was once one of the ten sceneries of the new bamboo hill. Yao Chunxi, an ancient poet, wrote a poem describing his scenery: "the long bridge with a hundred steps is high, and the idle people come to visit at night with the moon chanting. They laugh at the East flowing water with the help of the fence, and the toad scenery is like autumn." Now the bridge is well preserved, which is rare in Nanhui area. It is recorded in the book the bridge of Shanghai published in 1999. At the end of 2001, it declared to the district government and was listed as a cultural relic protection unit at the district level.
