These teapots broke the traditional pattern of making utensils, which emphasized the craft and imitated the old teapots, and injected culture into the inner utensils of teapots. The Dunhuang teapot in the desert, which was created in 2000, is the first purple clay teapot reflecting the 1600 year history and culture of Dunhuang. The Beijing Olympic Games and Shanghai World Expo commemorative teapot reflect the Chinese people's dream of holding the Olympic Games and World Expo in China for one hundred years. The "quintessence of Chinese culture" pot turns the pot into an open fan, inlaid with red sandalwood and pasted with Beijing Opera Face porcelain, which greatly enriches the expressive power of the red clay pot.
Development history
Among the more than 200 purple clay teapots collected in the museum, 70 of them were selected as "China's top ten purple clay teapots" from 2003 to 2010. These teapots break the traditional pattern of Yixing purple clay teapot, which emphasizes the craft and imitates the old teapot. On the basis of maintaining the traditional craft and paying attention to practicality, they pursue to inject the cultural connotation into the inner ware of the teapot, so that an ordinary purple clay teapot has the soul of culture.
The more than 200 pots seen by the audience in the museum can tell a rich background and story of the times. For example, the Dunhuang teapot in the desert, which was created in 2000, is the first purple clay teapot reflecting the 1600 year history and culture of Dunhuang. Another example is the commemorative teapot for the Beijing Olympic Games and the Shanghai World Expo, which vividly reflects the dream of the Chinese people for the Olympic Games and the World Expo in the past 100 years. Many new decorative techniques have been successfully applied to the external utensils of these purple clay pots. Another example is the eight cultural and Museum teapots with the themes of Qigong, Wang Shixiang, Xie zhiliu, Xu Bangda and Zhu Jiazhen, which represent the future development of purple clay teapots. For example, Zhu Jiazhen's "quintessence of Chinese culture" pot is designed as an open fan, inlaid with red sandalwood and pasted with Peking Opera Face porcelain pieces according to his love for Peking Opera. It not only accurately captures Zhu Jiazhen's cultural context, but also enriches the appreciation of the purple clay pot.
