Shanghai xinjiangwan city is a wetland park in Xinjiang, Shanghai. It was originally the site of Jiangwan Airport. It is the only natural ecological "Emerald" in Shanghai. It is listed as the four future demonstration residential areas in Shanghai. It covers an area of 12000 square meters.

Development history

The condition of beach land along the river in Jiangwan area ended in Qing Dynasty. In 1732, Hu Jiren, the magistrate of Baoshan County, built yizhoutang (dike) along the Pujiang River from the South Bank of yunzaobang to Qiujiang road. Yizhoutang resisted the invasion of the river tide at that time. However, the water situation in the estuary of Pujiang River is complex and changeable. After many years, the dike often collapses. As a result, the natural river network crisscrosses, the ditches are dense, and the wetlands are contiguous.

In the 1930s, Jiangwan built a military airport, which was stopped in 1994. It was converted to civilian land in 1997. The long-standing military forbidden area is sparsely populated. The ecological environment of forest irrigation, forest, wetland and so on has revived, which is close to the "original ecology". And reinforced concrete began to extend the entire Shanghai like tentacles, which suddenly became a natural island and a paradise for birds.

There are 36 kinds of birds jumping and flying here, accounting for more than 88% of the summer bird species in Shanghai, which is more than that in Sheshan area. Among them, there are 3 kinds of national class II protected birds, 12 kinds of precious bird species in the Sino Japanese migratory bird protection agreement, and some newly discovered birds in Shanghai In addition, seven species of fish were found in the water body of the three green areas, among which the Cladocera and the striped fish were rare in the urban area, and the snails and the mussel were also extinct in the urban area.

Such a good ecological environment immediately attracted the attention of many experts from East China Normal University, Fudan University and other universities, who pointed out: "this is the only natural ecological" Emerald "in Shanghai!" Name and origin

In the 1990s, the name here was not "New Jiangwan City", but "Jiangwan Airport". After the airport was closed, there was a more attractive name called "Jiangwan wetland", which has been hidden in the deep boudoir. How can there be a wetland in such a prosperous urban area of Shanghai? How did this wetland come into being?

Jiangwan is named after the first big bend at the mouth of Huangpu River. The Yangtze River Estuary and Huangpu River estuary are superimposed at the original Jiangwan Airport and some surrounding blocks. When the tide comes, a large area of land becomes water and beach. When the tide recedes, boundless reeds and wetlands emerge. The tidal water brings a large number of species in the Yangtze River Basin, Pujiang Taihu Lake Basin, East China Sea and Yellow Sea.
