Shaanxi North Road

North Shaanxi road is a north-south road in the Central District of Shanghai, China. It is mainly located in Jing'an District and extends into Putuo District in the north. It starts from Yan'an middle road to Shaanxi South Road in the South and ends at Yichang road by Suzhou River in the north.

history

Before 1899, Shaanxi North Road was located in the farmland of the western suburb of Shanghai. After the expansion of the Shanghai public concession to the west, the section from the south of Xinzha Road to Fuxu Road (now Yan'an Middle Road) in the south of the concession was opened up. In 1905, it was named Ximo road after the British generals. Since then, it has been extended northward, and the extended road section is named lishuangtang road after the owner of Shanghai Bank. In 1943, the Wang Jingwei government took over the Shanghai public concession and renamed it Shaanxi North Road after the name of Chinese province.
