The origin of history
Before 1906 (the 32nd year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty), this place was called xiajiaqiao. From 1949 to 1945, the land was rented and occupied by foreign businessmen. After the victory of the Anti Japanese war in 1945, it was taken over by China Textile Construction Corporation. In 1949, the land was taken over by the Municipal Bureau of lands. Xikang Park was built in 1951 and opened to the public on May 28 of the same year.
It was originally called xiajiaqiao, and the land was owned by the surname Wang. It was leased to Shengli bank in the 32nd year of Guangxu reign of Qing Dynasty. After several changes of hands, it became Japan's Zhengjin banking industry during the period of enemy and puppet. In 1945, after the surrender of the Japanese army, it was used by China Textile Construction Corporation. After the liberation of Shanghai, it was taken over by the Municipal Bureau of land administration. In 1950, it was allocated to the Municipal Bureau of works as green space. In 1951, the park management office of the Municipal Public Works Bureau started to build the park. It was opened to the public on May 28 of the same year. It was originally named Xikang park. On July 7 of the same year, it was renamed Xikang Road Children's Park, and then it was restored to its original name.
The park is located at 255 Xikang Road, north of Beijing West Road. It got its name from Xikang Road. It covers an area of 5600 square meters. At that time, there were high and low slides, boating, Trojan horse, swing, seesaw and other game facilities in the park. During the "Cultural Revolution", it was closed for two years due to civil air defense construction, and most of the trees, flowers and children's amusement facilities were destroyed. After the renovation in 1982, the appearance of the garden showed the present situation. The park site is rectangular, with 14 flower tree beds planted with Magnolia grandiflora, Cinnamomum camphora, Cedrus deodarum, camellia, wisteria, Euonymus japonicus and other trees and shrubs. There is a reinforced concrete flower rack at the east entrance of the park. In hot summer, the shade on the flower rack blocks out the sun for people to relax. The 30 meter long passageway inside the gate of Xikang Road Park is a green corridor. At the end of the corridor, there is a round flower bed with four seasons flowers inside. In the middle is a big yellow poplar ball. Coral trees are planted behind and on both sides of the corridor. The garden is about 40 meters wide from east to west and more than 100 meters long from north to south. In addition to a corridor and a pavilion in the west, the garden is full of plants.
