In 1933, two sections of lanjiazhuang (657m long and 4m wide) and the former section of the examination institute (now Nanjing municipal government) (120m long and 8m wide) were built. Later, they were successively renovated into asphalt pavement. It was once called Huanghe Road. In 1959, the Gulou square was expanded at the west end, and the original 6-meter-wide Baotai street was widened to a 40 meter Road, and the section from Chengxian JIEKOU to the newly built Taiping North Road was built.
