Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Center, located in room b0c, 868 Huashan Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, is a private museum specializing in the collection and display of calendar and posters.
brief introduction
Shanghai Poster Art Center was founded by Yang Peiming. Yang Peiming graduated from foreign language major in his early years. Before his retirement, he was responsible for receiving and managing overseas tourist groups in two large tourism enterprises. Since 1995, Yang Peiming began to collect posters. By 2014, he had collected nearly 6000 kinds of posters. In March 2012, Yang Peiming rented a basement at 868 Huashan Road as a collection and exhibition site. After that, he obtained relevant licenses from the competent department and officially opened the "Shanghai propaganda art center".
There are more than 400 posters on display in Shanghai Poster Art Center, from the calendar in the early 20th century to the posters after the cultural revolution. There are three exhibition areas in the center. The first period is the calendar of the Republic of China, from 1910 to 1940. Among them are calendar plates modeled by stars Hu Die and Zhou Xuan, many of which are painted by famous artists such as hang Zhiying and Xie Zhiguang. After the calendar, there are posters in the period of the people's Republic of China, from the "New Year's pictures" in the 1950s to the posters after the cultural revolution. In addition, there are big character newspapers of the cultural revolution, woodcut posters and so on.
