Shanghai City Theatre

Shanghai City Theatre is located in Mingdu Road, South Square of Xinzhuang subway station in Minhang District, Shanghai. It is an important part of Chunshen Cultural Square planned by Minhang District government. It is the cultural and Art Center of Minhang District, together with the adjacent district library, archives and Youth Activity Center. It has become a cultural landmark in Southwest Shanghai.

Theatre scale

The city theater, with a construction area of 7012 square meters, opened at the end of 2009. There are 1037 seats in the theater. The auditorium is divided into two floors, the first floor can accommodate 726 people, and the second floor can accommodate 311 people. The width of the stage entrance is 17.5 meters, the depth is 22 meters and the height is 10 meters. The total area of the left and right auxiliary platforms is 368 square meters. The lift music pool can accommodate 78 people. There are 48 program-controlled suspenders over the stage, 10 stage machinery lifting areas and 1 rotating area with a diameter of 7.65m. The total area of the dressing room is 273 square meters, which is divided into three group rooms and three single rooms. Clothing storage area of 80 square meters.

The theater can be used for concerts, ballets and dances, drama, musicals, children's plays, local operas, art parties and other forms of performance. It is also the preferred venue for meetings, celebrations, lectures and training.
