Zhejiang Wuyue Museum of ancient ceramics, formerly known as Zhejiang Museum of ancient ceramics, was established in 2000. It is the first provincial private museum approved by Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of cultural relics. Its theme shows 7000 years of ancient ceramic culture and the dawn of 5000 years of civilization.

There are more than 2000 pieces of prehistoric cultural relics of Hemudu culture and Liangzhu Culture in the museum. The collection is divided into pottery, bone ware, stone ware and wood ware. It demonstrates the 5000 year history of Chinese civilization from the perspectives of diet culture, drinking culture, agricultural production, textile technology, ancient art, primitive characters, calendar, sun, moon and stars.

Development history

Zhejiang Wuyue Museum of ancient ceramics, formerly known as Zhejiang Museum of ancient ceramics (Preparatory), was established in 2000. It is the first provincial private museum approved by Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of cultural relics. Its theme shows 7000 years of ancient ceramic culture and the dawn of 5000 years of civilization. There are more than 2000 pieces of prehistoric cultural relics of Hemudu culture and Liangzhu Culture in the museum. The collection is divided into pottery, bone ware, stone ware and wood ware. According to the preliminary identification of experts and scholars from the national top research institutions such as the Beijing Palace Museum, the Wuyue Ancient Ceramic Museum in Zhejiang Province has more than 100 pieces that can be listed as national first-class cultural relics, and dozens of them belong to national treasure level cultural relics. Zhao Ye, the National Archaeological leader, commented: "the Liangzhu pottery collected in the museum is more than any regular museum in quantity and quality.".

The museum has just introduced the latest X-ray fluorescence spectrometer from Germany, which is used to detect the composition of ancient ceramics, bronzes and precious metals, so as to identify the authenticity and dating of the collection. The instrument can compare and analyze dozens of elements at the same time, and draw a conclusion quickly and effectively through the automatic comparison of the system. In the domestic similar equipment, the detection cabin is the largest, the detection time is the shortest, the detection error is the smallest, and the accuracy is one millionth. Commissioning has been completed and business has been carried out.

Over the past few years, the museum has received more than 100000 visitors from home and abroad, and the visitors said they were deeply educated. Experts from the National Palace Museum, Chinese History Museum, capital museum, Beijing Art Museum, National Institute of archaeology, Chinese collectors association, Liangzhu studies research center of our province and other authoritative institutions were very impressed after visiting the museum. They also acted as senior consultants of the museum, and fully agreed that national cultural relics should take the road of "combining government protection with folk protection". CCTV has produced many special videos for the collection of cultural relics, and Zhejiang Enterprise Capital Development Research Association and other financial investment units have made investment analysis and evaluation, which fully affirmed the connotation value and development prospect of the museum.
