Ningbo Grand Theater is a key project in the new century that Ningbo municipal government decided to implement in order to promote the construction of Ningbo cultural city during the Tenth Five Year Plan period. It is a landmark cultural building in the city. The Grand Theatre was designed by French architect Mr. Hoffman. The project covers a total area of 136000 square meters (204 mu), with a construction area of 52000 square meters and an investment of 650 million yuan.

Located at the top of the "Three River cultural corridor" at the head of Yaojiang Bay, it faces the river and is surrounded by water on three sides. In the city's efforts to promote the construction of a cultural city, it is an important part of the city's "Three River cultural corridor". It is also a cultural facility with the largest investment, the largest scale and the most complete functions in the history of Ningbo. The overall architectural design highlights "harmony and perfection" as well as the overall coordination with the surrounding environment. The shape is like a shell in the sea, and the top arc is scattered, just like a butterfly stretching its wings, with the aura and beauty of life. The whole architectural shape is natural and vivid, with the aura and movement of life. The sculpture culture square is located in the southeast of the cultural and sports building of the Grand Theater. There is a 80 meter wide and 130 meter long ladder at the south main entrance, with a drop type pool, which is magnificent. Through this ladder, people can enter the open platform, enjoy the beautiful music fountain, and walk in the charming cultural garden. This is the largest single cultural facility investment and the highest grade project in Ningbo history.

Theatre facilities

The Grand Theater is divided into a main hall, two floors and three floors. It's an opera house designed according to Italian tradition. The two-story building is formed by the superposition of horseshoe shaped arcs. The grand theater can accommodate 1508 people, including 768 people on the first floor, 315 people on the second floor and 425 people on the third floor. The maximum distance between audience and stage is 35 meters. The line of sight of each seat is analyzed by British stage design company to ensure the line of sight of each seat. The horseshoe shaped opera house gives the Grand Theater a special centripetal force, making every audience as if in front of the stage to shorten the distance between the audience and the stage.

The interior of the Grand Theater is mainly made of wood. The Brown Swiss pear wood is wrapped with horseshoe shaped arc-shaped armrest, which makes the whole Grand Theater feel very warm and warm. It forms a strong contrast with the stone in the front hall, and more dramatizes the architectural space.

The seat design of the Grand Theater is an important part of the architectural design of the Grand Theater. Because the whole building is in the ecological, dynamic theme, are arc or streamline design. The seats are therefore part of the streamlined design. Her back is mainly circular arc, and the armrest on both sides and the support on the back are combined by arc. The Dark Brown Swiss pear wood is combined with the wall wood to form a strong overall design. 1508 seats fully meet the audience's comfort when watching the performance.

In terms of acoustics, the Grand Theatre is designed by the French acoustic art consulting firm Tsui, with natural sound sources as the main source. The volume of the auditorium is controlled at 7.7 cubic meters per seat, while the total volume is 11600 cubic meters. The mixing time of medium frequency (full) is 1.3 seconds, and the lyrics are clear and mellow.

Multifunction Room

The multi-function hall (central theater) has 800 seats, which can meet the performance functions of various projects, such as fashion show, singing, dancing, holding medium-sized meetings, holding weddings, etc. The seats and floor of the multi-functional theater are the combination floor of activity and lifting, so that the multi-functional hall can be used as a ladder meeting for 800 people in a very short time, and it can immediately become a full plane and wedding place.

The area of the multi-function hall is about 851.6 m2, with a stage of 18 m × 25 m and a side platform of 18 m × 5 m. It is also equipped with relevant auxiliary facilities. Various small and medium-sized singing and dancing performances can be performed in Ningbo at the same time for traditional Yong opera.

Stage machinery

The Grand Theater adopts the "pin" shaped frame stage commonly used in the world, which is divided into four scenes: main stage, left and right side stage and back stage.

The entrance of the theater is 18 × 12m (width × height), the main stage is 32.6m wide, 22.6m deep, 736.6m2 in area, with 5 main lifting platforms; the left and right stages are 18.6m wide, 22.6m deep, 420.36m2 in area, with 4 car platforms; the back stage is 22.5m wide, 21m deep, 472.5m2 in area, with 1 car turntable; the rear of the right stage is equipped with 1 Landscape lifting platform; between the main stage and the side stage There are four side auxiliary lifting platforms on the left and right sides respectively; one rear auxiliary lifting platform is set between the main stage and the rear stage; the same number of platform compensation platforms are set at the corresponding positions under the platform; five backstage compensation platforms are set under the vehicle turntable; and the music pool lifting railings and the music pool lifting platform are set in front of the platform.

Over the main stage, there are 5 lighting hangers, 10 lighting cages, 51 electric hangers, 15 single point cranes, 2 two screens, 1 large screen machine, 4 side hangers, and 1 sky curtain hanging equipment for performance. In addition, there is a set of stage machinery and equipment, such as movable platform, fire curtain and movable anti sound cover. Four rail cranes are arranged above the side stage, and four rail cranes and five electric booms are arranged above the rear stage.
