Lingshi nunnery is a part of Tianzhu Peak National Forest Park. It is located in Dayu Town, Tonggu County, Jiangxi Province, and stands on the West Bank of the upper reaches of Xiuhe river. The peak is bare, straight and towering, similar to Tianzhu peak. It is known as "the first peak of Xiujiang River".

Legend of Lingshi nunnery

According to legend, Zhang Guolao, one of the eight cave immortals, accidentally lost the precious stones he had brought with him. Strange to say, the snail fell to the ground and returned to the secular life. Seeing the rising wind, it suddenly grew steeply with the trend of "a thousand days in a day, and ten days in a day". Seeing the bad situation, Nanhai Guanyin immediately played the Jade Emperor: "the days of strange stones are thousands of times longer. If you don't subdue them, they will break through the Nantianmen gate in a few days." Hearing this, the Jade Emperor was shocked. In order to ensure the safety of heaven, he sent Lei Gong God down to conquer. On that day, the wind and clouds surged, the sky was dark, the rain was heavy, the fire snake was flying, and there was a thunderbolt. A big hole in Lingshi's abdomen was cut by thunder, so it stopped growing (high).

Founded in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), it has a long history and enjoys a high reputation. Abandon the boat climbing, stone path step "Tongtong" sound, like beautiful music, with the footsteps of tourists. It turns out that the rocks in Danxia landform contain carbonates, which are easily soluble in water. After being eroded by rain, they form a gap of different sizes. Come to the hillside, there is a well of spring water, clear to the bottom, hold, suck, sweet. It is said that this well spring has medicinal effect, can treat eye diseases, glaucoma, burning eye, myopia, presbyopia, cataract and so on. Around the spring, and then on a few stone steps, to the Lingshi Temple Guanyin hall. On the right side of the main hall, there is a Moyan stone carving. Zhu Weigang, a native of Hunan Province, admires the grotto's magnificence and gladly engraves "another heaven". According to Tongzhi's Yi Ning Zhou Zhi, "there is an nunnery on the cliff. The top is round and hollow, and the shape is like a hanging fragrance. It is secluded and can be far away from the hustle and bustle. Most eminent monks are hidden here, so it is a good resort.". Su Dongpo once came here, leaving behind a poem "with clear water, clear spring and stone, in which there are masters living freely". Today, the master is no longer, but the incense is as good as it was. When the hustle and bustle outside the mountain are synchronized, and the lights and noise are in parallel, you can be personally on the scene, place your feelings on tranquility, indulge in the mountains and waters, and make people transcendent and free from vulgarity and forget things. If you have a wish to achieve, you can turn to the goddess of mercy to help you. There is an endless stream of men and women who come here every day.

Location of Lingshi nunnery

It takes about 20 minutes from Daduan reservoir to Lingshi nunnery by ferry. The ticket is 40 yuan per person. Those who want to be in a hurry can take a speedboat.

The dam of the reservoir is about 20 meters high, and the water surface is long and narrow, with a width of about two or three hundred meters. At a glance, the mountain opposite is verdant and beautiful. There are several huge stones in the green forest. In fact, they should be called mountains, because they are at least about the size of ordinary hills.

It is said that Chairman Mao lived in this Lingshi nunnery for a period of time during the Autumn Harvest Uprising.

The gourd is really a magic weapon of the immortal family. It takes root in the ground and grows in the wind. When people see it, they think it has "spirit", so it is called "spirit stone". With the passage of time, the gourd grows higher and higher, straight to Xiaohan. One day, the Jade Emperor was so lucky that he found that the gourd was getting bigger and higher every day. He was not surprised, so he immediately sent a decree to xuanlei gongdianmu, saying to them, "Huayi China occasionally produces a strange stone, which grows with the wind and goes straight into the sky. Like this, it has the potential to break through the sky. This is to order Er Qing to lead the headquarters, to descend to the earth quickly, to split thunder and burn electricity, to level evils early, and not to be slighted. " Lei Gong's mother led the order, and then led the people to the place where Lingshi grew. According to the cloud head, he immediately put on his staff and sword and recited to the "spirit stone" in the West. In an instant, clouds rose all over the place, sand and rocks flew, thunder and lightning mixed, and Thor waved his steel chisel to aim at the "spirit stone" with a roar. He hit down a large rock behind and went back to heaven to reply. Since then, the "spirit stone" not only no longer has "spirit", but has become a towering and spectacular rock tip. On the other hand, there is a natural stone gate on the front of the stone. There is a hole in the gate. It is 100 meters high and 50 meters wide. The gate is large and bright. It is invisible. Although it rains heavily, it doesn't wet the skirt. The Ming dynasty built an nunnery and created a statue of Avalokitesvara in it. It was famous all over the world for its long-term fragrance. It responded to every request and was very effective. Therefore, it was renamed lingshiyan as lingshian. Although the above two statements are extremely absurd rumors, from the field observation, Lingshi has a sharp top and a big bottom. It looks like a gourd and a hanging bell. It is 1040 meters above sea level, bare and steep, and has a unique style. Before liberation, dozens of monk houses were built in front of the stone, which could accommodate more than 100 monks. During the new moon period, thousands of people went to pay homage to the temple. All over Yifeng, Xiushui, Fengxin and Pingjiang counties. It is not only famous for its nunnery, but also attracts people with its peculiar posture. Tianzhu peak, one of the eight scenic spots in ningzhou, highlights its peculiar and beautiful natural features. Lingshi temple is adjacent to Dingjiang River in the southeast, Guangxiang in the West and Bajiao brigade in the north. There are many strange peaks and many strange rocks. On both sides of the gate are marshals Wang and ma. On both sides of the main hall are eighteen Arhats and twenty-four heavens. On the front are statues of Manjusri and Puxian Guanyin. Among them, the statue of Guanyin is five meters high and three meters wide, sitting cross legged and lifelike. Unfortunately, the temples and Buddha statues were seriously damaged during the cultural revolution, and only the caves remained for people to look up to.
