About the park
The ancient city park is located between Renmin Road, Anren street and Fuyou Road, with a total green area of nearly 40000 square meters. The greening project started on February 10, 2002 and was completed on May 31, 2002, lasting 110 days. In less than a year, the area of old houses demolished and built reached 170000 square meters, 4123 households were relocated, and the area of new green space was 76000 square meters.
The design of the Ancient City Park focuses on the principle of "three priority, five consideration". The park is mainly green, people-oriented and ecological; it reflects the history and culture of the ancient city, the distribution of people, the education base, the sense of hardship of the citizens, the landmark landscape of the ancient city park and the re combination of tourism resources.
Overall landscape
The overall landscape of the park is characterized by the treatment of modern urban public open space, forming a large-scale urban public space in balance with the surrounding urban architecture and spatial scale. The main landscape visual channel extends from sixteen paved to Yu Garden, forming a dialogue between Shanghai's future and yesterday (Lujiazui and Yu Garden). Along the arc ramp from the sunken square to danfengtai, it seems to explore the track of history and tell the story of the city wall. Along Renmin Road, there are large lawns and winding streams, which are reminiscent of the moat of the old city and form a city landscape with special historical and cultural connotations. Along Fuyou road and Anren Street are densely planted forests, which, on the one hand, become the buffer and transition between the urban mechanism of Shanghai's old city and the modern urban space, and on the other hand, reproduce the classical style of "money Industry Office" in the forest, reminisce the past years, and produce a sense of distance. Danfeng terrace is the highest point of the whole park, which allows visitors to experience the feeling of standing on the position of Danfeng building at that time and feel the historical and cultural value of Shanghai from different angles.
Plant configuration
Plant configuration follows the ecological principle, giving people a clear-cut, well arranged landscape space. The main plant materials are local tree species and large trees, including Osmanthus fragrans, Zelkova, Ginkgo biloba, Pterocarya stenoptera, Podocarpus microphylla, Magnolia denudata, Lagerstroemia indica, etc.
The completion of the ancient city park not only improves the ecological environment of the old city area of Shanghai, enriches the urban landscape, but also improves the quality of life of the residents in the surrounding areas, making the old city towards the garden ecological city of the 20th century.
