Mahu scenic spot

Mahu is a provincial scenic spot and Geopark in Sichuan Province. It is located in the northeast of Leibo County, adjacent to Pingshan County of Yibin City in the East and Yongshan County of Yunnan Province across Jinsha River in the south. It is the third largest alpine deep-water Lake in China and one of the four major natural lakes in Sichuan. The lake is 1100 meters above sea level, 5.5 kilometers long from north to south, 2.5 kilometers wide from east to west, covering an area of 7.33 square kilometers. The average water depth is 66 meters, and the deepest is 134 meters. According to the latest exploration, the deepest may exceed 200 meters, storing 481 million cubic meters of water.

Around the Mahu lake, there are: Golden turtle playing in the water, sow lying in the rock, goose flying across, five horses returning to the trough, Dawan Ruyue, aokou Fenghui, Tianmen Xiongchen, lanshe chasing turtle, baobotou lake, Longhu Xiongguan and other beautiful landscapes.

The profound history and culture of the Three Kingdoms left traces here. When Zhuge Liang fought in the Three Kingdoms, Meng Huo left a lot of footprints here. Finally, Zhu Ge Liang invited Meng Huo to achieve the harmony between Yi and Han, which has been handed down for thousands of years.

Xiluodu Hydropower Station, the world's second largest (except the Three Gorges) giant hydropower station, is only 40 kilometers away from here. At present, you can enjoy the spectacular construction scene.

Mahu scenic spot

Mahu scenic spot is located in Leibo County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, with a total area of 128 square kilometers. It is composed of beautiful Mahu lake, Jinshajiang Canyon and primitive dense forest. It is a dazzling "Pearl" in the depth of Xiaoliang mountain. In 1993, it was approved as a provincial scenic spot by the provincial people's government.

Mahu is a large natural deep-water lake on the plateau, with a water area of 7.3 square kilometers. In the East, West and south, there are high mountains as the barrier, and in the north, there are natural rock dams formed by the accumulation of basalt and limestone fragments. The harbor of the lake area is deep and secluded, the lake bank is tortuous and changeable, the limestone at the bottom of the lake is smooth and fine, without silt, and the lake water is clear and transparent, without any pollution.

Surrounded by tea gardens and forests, the lakeside is green with beautiful scenery. The Jinsha River Gorge is steep, the river is turbulent, the cliffs are towering, and there are many strange rocks.

The area is inhabited by Yi people, with ethnic characteristics of villages, historical and cultural relics for sightseeing. There are a large number of primitive forests in Mahu scenic area, with towering ancient trees, winding vines, lichen moss everywhere, full of primitive flavor.

The scenic spot is 47 kilometers away from the county seat and 280 kilometers away from Xichang. The local government attaches great importance to the development of Mahu scenic spot, and has established a scenic spot management organization to strengthen the protection, development, construction and unified management of Mahu scenic spot resources. There are a certain scale of reception, postal communication, medical and health, electricity and other infrastructure in the scenic area. In 1999, the number of tourists was about 35000.
