Brief introduction to Zhang Ding

Zhang Ding (May 19, 1917 - February 21, 2010), male, from Heishan, Liaoning Province, is a famous contemporary Chinese painter, cartoonist, muralist, calligrapher, craft artist, art educator and art theorist. He once served as a member of the China Federation of literary and art circles, executive director of the China Artists Association, chairman of the national mural Work Committee of the China Artists Association and a member of the China Arts and Crafts Association He is vice chairman of the Artists Association, member of the Council of the Chinese Painting Research Institute, President of the Huang Binhong Research Association, professor and President of the Central Academy of Arts and crafts, and consultant of the 1949-1989 Chinese Art Yearbook.

Xiamen Zhangding Art Museum officially opened on May 2, 2015. Under the active initiative of Zhangding Art Research Association, it began to be established before 2013, and received the support and help from Fujian Provincial Federation of literary and art circles, Xiamen municipal Party committee, Xiamen municipal government, Xiamen University, Xiamen Municipal Federation of literary and art circles and Art Association. Why open in Xiamen

Zhang Ding was born in Liaoning Province. His hometown, Liaoning Province, has repeatedly proposed to build a personal art museum for him, but Zhang Ding declined. Zhang Ding believes that the construction of personal art museum requires artists to achieve a high historical status and artistic achievements, and he does not want to add burden to his hometown. But his personal art museum is now located in Xiamen. Why?

In fact, Zhang Ding has a deep relationship with Xiamen. Fujian and Xiamen, as the major cities of Arts and crafts and folk art in China, only among Zhang Ding's works in folk collection, Xiamen is the first in China. Moreover, Zhang Ding once led the founding of the Art College of Xiamen University, and proposed that Xiamen Institute of Arts and crafts be merged into Tsinghua Academy of Arts. He also came to Xiamen many times for meetings, lectures and sketching, and many scenic spots in Xiamen entered his landscape paintings. "Here are his most students and admirers. Museum Collection

In terms of collections, the works span 60 years from the 1950s to the 21st century, including calligraphy, painting, sketch, sketching manuscripts, letters, video materials, etc. Many of these works are representative, such as Jiao Mo's "Ode to Kunlun", "Mount Tai", "hometown of Xihuang", "morning of Potala Palace" and so on.

Exhibition hall planning

On the basis of retaining the original style, the museum has been transformed from Qingshang architectural design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University into a three storey modern building with an area of 3500 square meters and two floors.

The first floor is a temporary exhibition hall, which holds various special exhibitions from time to time;

The second floor is the permanent exhibition hall, which displays the most comprehensive and abundant works of Zhang Ding in China for a long time.
