Longjiang Bridge
Longjiang bridge, commonly known as Pengcheng bridge, is located at longhedu, 1000 meters northeast of Wanzai County, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, China, across the Shujiang river. The bridge has 4 piers and 5 arches, which are made of coarse stone and mortar. The bridge is 8.7 meters high, 98 meters long and 5.5 meters wide, with 0.9 meters high bluestone slab walls on both sides. The one-way navicular pier is 3 meters high, and the span of the arch is 17 meters. The arch is composed of 9 single arches. There are 30 stone steps on the bridge.
History of cultural relics
The bridge was built in 1751 by the death of King Xin, and yizhoudu was a stone bridge. However, before the bridge was built, Xin Yu died, and his son Xin Qu (named Pengcheng) continued to be built, which was completed in 1755. His grandson Xin Shangqin then added two stone railings, which were completed in 1780. In order to build the bridge, the three generations spent more than ten thousand yuan after 30 years, and almost sold all the land. There is a poem titled "the picture of Longjiang bridge" written by FA Shishan, the official in charge of Guozijian, and Xin Congyi, the Minister of Qing Dynasty. On the wall of Liu's house at the west end of the bridge, there was a portrait of Xin's father and son for sacrifice, but it was destroyed in 1966.
Cultural relics protection
In October 1983, longjiangqiao was declared as a cultural relic protection unit at the county level by the people's Government of the county. In the 1960s and 1970s, an aqueduct was built on the bridge for irrigation. After the 1990s, due to the need of opening to traffic, the stone steps at both ends of the bridge were filled as slopes, and the stone railings on both sides of the bridge were also damaged.
