Xiadong Temple

Located at Zigong workers sanatorium on Ziliujing Gongjing Road, it was built in Yongli period of Southern Ming Dynasty (1654, the 10th year of Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty). It's a folk temple for worshiping Buddha and playing with opera. Xiadong temple is a provincial cultural relic protection unit.

Xiadong temple in Zigong covers an area of nearly 1600 square meters. Siheyuan layout, sitting south, by the front hall, the middle hall, the back hall. The front hall is a single eaves Xieshan style roof with a wooden structure. In the middle is the theater building, 8.1 meters wide, 7 meters deep and 12.05 meters high. The cloisters on both sides of the stage form a patio, which has the characteristics of Southern ancient architecture. In fact, the central hall is a grandstand, with a single eaves suspended Hill roof, a bucket wood structure, and a beam lifting frame. The main hall is the place where the statues of gods were worshipped. It is 18.55 meters wide and 6.95 meters deep. The left and right footpaths are ladder shaped, with 9 levels each. It extends in all directions. It is an ancient building with a bucket and a beam. The roof of Xieshan, the ridge of the roof, the mural and the carved column are simple and quiet. Its architectural function zoning is very clear, and the whole building is still intact. The wood carving and stone carving decoration in the temple is simple, ancient and clumsy, with unique charm. The large and small courtyards are connected by corridors, which has high historical and artistic value.

Xiadong Temple

Xiadong temple is located in Ziliujing district to Gongjing road beside Zigong workers sanatorium. It was built in Yongli period of Southern Ming Dynasty (1654, the 10th year of Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty). It's a folk temple for worshiping Buddha and playing with opera.

Xiadong temple is located in the north and south. It consists of front hall, back hall and theater building. The large and small courtyards are connected by cloisters, extending in all directions. It is an ancient building with a bucket and a beam. The roof of Xieshan, the ridge of the roof, the frescoes and the carved columns are simple and quiet, and the functional zoning of the building is very clear. The whole building has been preserved completely so far, which has high historical and artistic value.

Because the temple was built in the period of frequent wars, the historical span of building stages is large, and the architectural conception and technology are not unified. It is a rare building research material for the study of the late Ming Dynasty.
