brief introduction
Chen Fang's former residence, located at the entrance of Meixi village, was built in the late Qing Dynasty, covering a total area of 5742 square meters and a construction area of 2600 square meters, including one Chen Gong ancestral hall, three big houses, one western style house and one flower hall.
The stone memorial archways were built in 1886 and 1891. There were four stone memorial archways, but now there are only three. They are all three three story stone memorial archways.
In the cemetery, there are Chen Fanghe, his mother Li An, his three sons Chen gengyu and his eldest grandson Chen Yongan. It covers an area of 2000 square meters from north to south. It has a pavilion and a stone tablet named "beautiful city of resort" inscribed by Mo Rongxin, the governor of Guangdong Province during the period of the Republic of China.
Chen Fang was born in Meixi village in 1825, and began to do business in Hawaii in 1848. Later, she became the first Chinese millionaire in Honolulu at that time, with the reputation of "Prince of business". After Chen Fang became rich, she did not forget her hometown and donated a lot to China. This group of stone archways was built by Emperor Guangxu for Chen Fang and his parents who were enthusiastic about public welfare in their hometown.
