Longtan Lake Park
Longtan Lake Park is located in zuo'anmen, Dongcheng District. It is a water area gradually formed by a large depression excavated for firing City bricks during the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. At that time, there was no name of Longtan Lake. Longtan Lake Park is a scenic spot composed of three connected waters, with a land and water area of 120 hectares and a water area of 700 mu.
Longtan Lake Park is a moat in the South and East, and zuo'anmen Street passes through the lake. The park covers an area of 1.2 million square meters, with a circle of about 2.5km. It is a garden with rippling green waves, shady green trees and waterscape.
Once there was a little boy who slipped into the water by accident. Two retired workers jumped into the water to save him. The little boy was rescued, but the two old workers died with honor. In memory of them, a statue was built for them in Longtan Lake Park.

Development history
It was originally a brick kiln built in the Ming Dynasty when the outer city was built, but later it became a stinky water pit. In 1952, an artificial lake was excavated, and more than 500000 cubic meters of soil was piled up in the lake to form two small islands. A road around the lake was built and renovated into three lakes, East, middle and West, covering an area of more than 680 mu, which is larger than the sum of Shichahai, Houhai and Jishuitan The name of Lake Tan was given by Liang Sicheng.
From 1984 to 1985, Longtan Lake Park was rebuilt, and it took another year to complete the landscaping project in 1986.
Structural layout
The park is dominated by waterscape, highlighting the characteristics of dragon and pool. Beside the lake, there are Longshan, forest of dragon inscriptions, Bailong Pavilion, classical architecture Longyin Pavilion, dragon shaped stone carvings and dragon bridge. Longyin Pavilion is a unique water loft in northern gardens; Longtan scenic area is composed of 14 peaks, with overlapping peaks and waterfalls flowing down from the 14.5-meter-high rocks; Longzi Stone Forest scenic area is made of natural rocks, with numerous stone tablets, collecting 229 dragon characters inscribed by Oracle Bone Inscriptions, Qin seal inscriptions, bronze inscriptions, and later generations of famous calligraphers and celebrities.
A fragrant garden is built on the central island of East Lake. In the south, it is a fragrance Pavilion. It is a hall hall for a national form, with a promenade extending into the water and a marble Pavilion at the end. In the park and nearby, there are yuan Chonghuan temple, Xizhao Temple (gubaitang), pagoda of Jin Dynasty, Liutang of Qing Dynasty and other historic sites.
Chongwen District is planning to build Longtan Lake Sports Industrial Park. It plans to build the first sports industrial park in China and the largest sports theme park in the city by 2008. Longtan Lake Park, the largest rock climbing site in Asia, was opened to visitors in January 2003.

The park is mainly divided into six scenic spots: Longyin Pavilion is a unique water Pavilion in Beijing gardens; Longtan scenic spot is composed of 14 peaks, with overlapping peaks and waterfalls pouring down from 14.5 meters high and 3 meters wide rocks; Longzi Stone Forest scenic spot is made of natural rocks, with numerous stone tablets. It is a collection of oracle bone inscriptions, Qin Zhuan, Jin inscriptions, Han, Jin, Northern Wei, Tang, song, yuan, Ming, Qing and modern famous calligraphers and celebrities of the "dragon" characters, as well as the evolution of Chinese dragon shape, a total of 229 dragon characters.
In July and August of Liantang Huayu scenic area, lotus flowers are all over the pool, graceful and swaying on the rippling clear waves. Longmen scenic area is the entrance of the park. A pair of white jade carving taps protrude from the stone wall of Longmen, and the taps spray water into the dragon pool surrounded by the strange stones in front of xuanqian. In wanliutang scenic area, there are both flying Weilong and elaborately carved Jiulong, integrating culture and garden.
