The origin of the name

"In autumn, the sky is pure, and the sun is bright.". There are several versions of the name of tongguzhang (also known as tonggufeng). It is said that the peak is flat and broad, round and drum like.

On the other hand, it gets its name because of its strong mountain wind and its sound like a bronze drum. Camping in tongguzhang, the mountain wind is blowing in the middle of the night, the forest waves are surging, and the four mountains reverberate, making people strong and passionate.

Another is that this peak is the distribution point of Baiyue bronze drum, so it is named. Baiyue is located in the southeast and south of China

The ancient ethnic group in this area is the largest ethnic group south of the Yangtze River in ancient China. In 1982, the general survey of cultural relics in cities and counties of Guangdong Province revealed that 56 bronze drums were unearthed in 18 counties, including Gaozhou and Huazhou, and have been collected by county museums. Tonggu pond in Bobai, Tonggu village in Qinzhou, Tonggu pond in Lianjiang, Tonggu ridge in Qujiang, etc. are mostly named after the burial of Tonggu. Is bronze drum buried in tongguzhang? Recently, scholars collected five newly recorded plants in tongguzhang, namely, Litsea angustifolia, rattan elegans, Rubus guangguoensis, Camellia microphylla and Eriocheir bulbifera. The specimens are deposited in the College of forestry, South China Agricultural University. In addition to bamboo and wood, tongguzhang produces mushroom, fungus, herbal medicine, honey, tea, fish and shrimp, snail, stone frog, etc. The folk song sings: "tongguzhang, three treasures, one Coptis and licorice."
