The China Quaternary glacial heritage exhibition hall, located at 28 modokou street, Shijingshan District, Beijing, was officially opened in 1992. It is the only natural science museum built on Quaternary glacial heritage in China and even in Asia. The exhibition hall is composed of popular science education on glacier knowledge, geology and rocks, paleontology, earth environmental protection, etc

Covering an area of 1950 square meters and a construction area of 750 square meters, the exhibition hall of Quaternary glacial relics in China consists of 11 exhibition rooms on two floors and a heritage conservation area. The exhibition is divided into glacial scratch relics and a 5-meter-long Gallery, including fossils and ice stained stone specimens of various sizes, and introduces glacial knowledge and the current situation of glacial resources

Historical evolution
In 1952, Li Jie, a Chinese geologist and former senior engineer of the Ministry of water resources, first discovered the trace of Quaternary glacial scratch at the mouth of the Yongding River when he explored the diversion canal of the Yongding River, which was later confirmed by geologist Li Siguang and geologist Nari Wujin of the former Soviet Union.
In 1989, China's Quaternary glacial relics exhibition hall was established, and its name was inscribed by Fang Yi, former Vice Premier of the State Council of China.
In July 1992, the exhibition hall of Quaternary glacial relics in China was officially opened

In 2006, the Shijingshan District government allocated 26 million yuan to expand the exhibition hall of Quaternary glacial relics in China in order to better protect glacial scratch relics.
In 2007, the exhibition hall of Quaternary glacial relics in China was closed for renovation.
On June 13, 2009, the exhibition hall of Quaternary glacial relics in China was reopened. In the same year, the Beijing Youth geological exploration team settled down in the exhibition hall of Quaternary glacial relics in China

In June 2015, the statue of geologist Li Jie was completed in the exhibition hall of Quaternary glacial relics in China

On November 23, 2017, China Quaternary glacial relics exhibition hall was opened to the public for free
. On December 1 of the same year, it was officially open to the public free of charge.
Architectural pattern
China Quaternary glacial relics exhibition hall covers an area of 1950 square meters, with a construction area of 750 square meters and an exhibition area of 4200 square meters. It consists of 11 exhibition rooms on two floors and a heritage conservation area. The exhibition is divided into four parts: glacial scratch traces and a 5-meter-long Gallery, including ostrich eggs, dinosaur eggs, trilobites, mammoth ivory and other fossils, as well as samples of various sizes of glacial rocks, and an introduction to glacial knowledge and the current situation of glacial resources

The exhibition hall on the first floor includes preface, glacier knowledge, glacier scratch protection area and typical Quaternary glacial landforms. At the same time, there is a multi-function hall for the audience to watch popular science films related to glaciers. The exhibition hall on the second floor mainly shows the distribution of modern glaciers, the relationship between glaciers and human beings, the impact of climate change on glaciers and the research results of Quaternary glacial theory in China At the same time, there are multimedia interactive projects for the audience to experience and understand the fourth quarter glacier in an all-round way

China's Quaternary glacial relics exhibition hall implements the "free and non free" system. 300 tickets are reserved every day, and each person can get one free ticket every day. Tickets are valid on the same day. Visitors are required to get free tickets at the ticket office with valid ID card (the second generation ID card of the people's Republic of China) during opening hours

Group visitors (more than 20 people) should book free tickets by telephone 7 days in advance, and bring a letter of introduction to the unit to the ticket office to collect tickets on the day of visit, then enter the tour from the main entrance

Traffic routes
Take Beijing Metro Line 1 and get off at Pingguoyuan station, then transfer to Beijing bus No.527 and get off at modokou Dongli station. Go south for about 80 meters. Turn west at the first traffic light and walk west along modokou street for about 600 meters.
