Shiyan

Shiyan is named because it looks like a lion. There is a cave in the rock, which can hold dozens of people. In the cave, there are vertical and horizontal channels, stone pillars, pendulous bells, and open springs. In 964 ad, Zheng Ziyan, a monk in Quanzhou, set up a Taoist temple here. In the time of emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty, he was granted the Junqing temple. In the Southern Song Dynasty, it was also known as the definition court. There are he Xiangu palace, Daxiong hall, Junqing temple and other scenic spots.

There are many natural stone lions, stone elephants, stone monkeys, stone turtles and so on in the cave. On the top of the rock is engraved with the word "Renshi Penghu", which is said to be the title of Emperor Qianlong. Out of the cave, you can go left to Guanyin palace, he Xiangu palace, Seven Saints palace, and right to God of wealth palace, medicine King Bodhisattva palace, and heavenly Virgin Mary palace. There is a natural spring lake in front of Shiyan. Its name is Jiaohu lake. It is as clear as a mirror. Jiaotan Yongyue is a famous night scene here.

The legend of Shiyan

According to legend, it is a place with immortals and dragons. Immortals are he Xiangu, one of the eight immortals of ancient Taoism.
