Pengbi Lake

Pengbihu lake is the main water source lake of Erhai Lake, also known as Ninghu lake. It is named for the growth of pengbihua in the lake. Pengbihua belongs to Nymphaeaceae. It blooms in July and August of the lunar calendar every year, but it only blooms for about half an hour at sunrise and in the afternoon, so it is also called "meridian Lotus". Pengbi Lake

Name and origin

Emperor Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty once went boating on the lake. Seeing the muddy water, he was very unhappy. The lake covers an area of 7.86 square kilometers (8.46 square kilometers for Caohai in the southwest), 6.1 kilometers long from north to south, 2.5 kilometers wide from east to west, and 0.75 kilometers wide from west to East.
