Chinese inscriptions
The full text of the inscriptions on the pagoda is as follows:
The former servants of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, the Turpan princes Emin and Zhuo, the mouth leaders zazasak and Sulaiman, etc. Nian Emin and Zhuo have lived for 80 years since they were appointed
Three years old. He was blessed by heaven. He did not suffer any disaster. He blessed all the people. Therefore, he rewarded his kindness and built a pagoda for 7000 yuan. Therefore, the stele is built to hang forever. It can be used as a name for teaching. It's just in case that heaven's kindness should be rewarded. In the 40th year of Qianlong reign, duanyueji was born in Hitachi. Obviously, the purpose of building Emin tower is to report the Qing Dynasty's kindness to Emin and Zhuo's family, and make their achievements last forever. It was built for "to hang forever, to be famous for teaching".
Next to it is a mosque that can hold thousands of people for worship. The tower is simple and bright. It has 14 geometric patterns and conical shape with uniform upward contraction, which is very pleasing to the eye.
What's more wonderful is the internal structure of the tower. Instead of a piece of wood, 72 spiral steps are built in the center of the tower as the central column, which can not only replace the wood structure to support and strengthen the tower, but also be used as a ladder to climb to the top of the tower. This is an art treasure with Islamic architectural style created by Turpan Uygur architects who are short of wood.
Experience
Emin Hezhuo is the leader of Turpan Uygur nationality. Because of maintaining the reunification of the motherland, Emin Hezhuo was canonized as the county king by the Qing Dynasty. In 1777, the tower was built when Emin and Zhuo were 83 years old. A stone tablet under the base of the tower records the original cause of the tower's construction. It was built by Emin and Zhuo in their later years to celebrate their birthday, repay Allah's kindness, and make Emin and Zhuo's achievements last forever. Express loyalty to the Qing emperor. The tower has been listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council. There is an endless stream of people who come here to worship every year.
The Sugong pagoda chapel, adjacent to the Sugong pagoda, is one of the largest Islamic mosques in Xinjiang. It covers an area of 2500 square meters. The interior is spacious and the building is solemn and simple. It can accommodate thousands of people to do namaz. During the Rouzi Festival and the gurbanjie Festival, the Muslim people, in groups of three or five, flock to the mosque. From afar, they gather here from all directions by donkey, bicycle and car to pray for blessings.
Design structure
The whole building complex is composed of two parts: the ancient pagoda and the mosque. The ancient pagoda is a gray brick structure, which was built by yibulahin, a Uighur architect in the Qing Dynasty. In addition to the top window lattice, there is basically no wood. The body of the tower is round and gradually shrinks from bottom to top. The diameter of the tower base is 10 meters. It's 40 meters high. The center of the tower is a thick round column built with gray bricks. The column winds upward and is also paved in a spiral shape with brick steps.
You can climb to the top of the tower all the time. The inside of the tower is very dark. Only a small hole is opened at a considerable distance, and a little light is transmitted in. It is difficult to see the virtual and real at the foot. Naturally, people will have a sense of mystery. Straight tower top, there is a small attic of about 10 square meters, surrounded by large open windows.
architectural art
The excellent Uighur architects who built the tower show the excellent architectural art tradition of the Uighur people through the tower. The 40 meter high brick tower, from the bottom to the top, is gray and yellow. The plain earth bricks should make people feel dull and monotonous. But in the ingenious stacking of the clever Uyghur craftsmen, the earth bricks are used to build more than 10 kinds of geometric patterns: waves, rhombus and tuanhua, which are cyclic and changeable. Standing under the tower and looking up, it's like being in front of a complex and changeable decorative painting.
Cultural relics exhibition hall
The mosque under the tower is a large mosque still in use, spacious and grand. This is a very local building. It has a worship hall that can hold more than 1000 people, a dome shaped vault, a beautiful horseshoe shaped ticket roof, numerous niches, and a dark sermon room, all of which show the style of Islamic architecture and a strong atmosphere of religious life.
They are all built with dried adobe. It is a very common and long-standing building method to build houses in dry Turpan area. This kind of adobe buildings can be seen everywhere in the ancient cities of Jiaohe and Gaochang. In the whole Xinjiang, this kind of earth building is really a method worth summarizing and studying. It is said that construction experts at home and abroad have had a strong interest in this kind of earth building method.
Su Gong pagoda exhibition hall: it is a modern exhibition hall of cultural relics built in 1999. There is a watchtower on the exhibition hall, which can be seen from the top to replace the regret of not being able to climb the Su Gong pagoda. In 2000, there is no exhibition hall, and the exhibition hall is on-going. There are more than 100 exquisite cultural relics from Hotan.
