Jieshou Huguo temple is located in the east of Shiqiao street, Jieshou Town, Gaoyou city. It was one of the eight famous temples in Gaoyou City in Qing Dynasty, and is now a cultural relic protection unit in Gaoyou city. The three characters "Huguo Temple" on the plaque of Huguo temple was inscribed by Zhao Puchu, the former president of the Buddhist Association.

Huguo temple, built in the early Northern Song Dynasty, was originally a three small temple, which was called Guandi temple. Later, it declined several times and was repaired several times. Wei Zhongxian, the eunuch of the Ming Dynasty, was domineering and powerful. This temple was once changed into Wei Gongsheng temple. Later, when Wei Zhongxian was punished, it was changed into Guandi temple. During the reign of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, the abbot, monk Jieru, rebuilt his palace. There is a stone tablet of "guandudian", which is engraved with the words "rebuilt in mid spring of Kangxi Jiawu year". In the ninth year of Qianlong reign, he Xiangyi, a gentry, became a Buddhist because he lost his wife in the middle age and his son in the old age. He worshipped the wisdom monk of Gaoyou Tianwang temple as his teacher. His Dharma name was Guangcheng, and he was the abbot of Huguo temple. Monk Guangcheng donated more than 200 mu of land as temple property. He paid equal attention to agriculture and Zen, and raised money from Guanguan. He operated for more than 10 years. In the 24th year of Qianlong, he built more than 100 temples with four entrances. The mountain gate facing west, the first entrance into Tianwang hall, the second entrance into Guansheng hall, the third entrance into xiongbao hall, the fourth entrance into Fatang and Abbot's room. There are Zen hall, Buddha chanting hall and guest hall in the two chambers, and pine and bamboo are widely planted in the back garden. At that time, the temple was quite large, with towering temples and strict weather. Guangcheng monk changed the temple to Huguo temple. From then on, the temple was successively inhabited by several eminent monks. They believed in and practiced the creed that "to serve the temple with deep heart is to repay the Buddha's kindness". They were well versed in the precepts, practiced asceticism, promoted Zen, and glorified the Dharma. They were praised by Buddhist monks and folk believers.

Today, Master Wu Yuan, the abbot of Huguo temple, is 75 years old. As early as March 1945, Yunling was handed down to the Taoist priest of the temple. He studied the law school in the Buddhist Academy for four years. After graduation, he traveled to the famous temples in Dashan. After becoming the abbot of Huguo temple, Yunling deeply felt the sunshine and rain of the party's religious policy, thus moistening the vast sky, carrying forward the magic power and blessing all living beings. Therefore, we always adhere to the principle of patriotism, love education, love merits and virtues, work hard, raise money from all sides, operate miserably, and build the Buddha statue of the whole hall. We have Haimen Buddha Island, Chuang fan Baogai, Fanzhong Yinpan and other magic tools. Every year on the first day of the second month of the lunar calendar, the fahua Taoist temple is built for seven days. Since the 1990s, he has participated in three major ceremonies of preaching precepts in Jiuhua Mountain, Anhui, longchanglu temple, Baohua mountain, Nanjing, Tianning Temple, Changzhou, and Longxing Temple, Fengyang County. At the same time, at the invitation of foreign Buddhist circles, he successively went to Japan, Singapore and Malaysia for religious and cultural exchanges.

Today, the director of Gaoyou Buddhist Association has more than 50000 ordained monks in mainland and Southeast Asian Buddhist circles, and his reputation is growing day by day. In accordance with the unified planning of the town government to develop tourism, relying on the full support of believers, the temple of heavenly king was newly built, the main hall was rebuilt, and the temple of Huguo temple was restored, so as to promote the Great Buddha Guangye. Recently, he wrote a poem: "Holy Land Guanghua, Buddhism is new, rambling on a leaf crossing the maze. Who worships piously, who understands, has no dust in his heart, and his eyes are full of spring. " It shows that he is determined to carry forward Buddhism and benefit the people.
