Historical evolution
Montwick hill overlooking the city street of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, has a pure white building in one corner. It is the Milo art museum left by the talented painter Zhuang Milo who was born in Barcelona: the correct name should be "Zhuang Milo foundation modern art research center". Its predecessor is the Zhuang Miro foundation, which was established in 1971. In order to promote the development of modern art, Milo and his friends set up a foundation while preserving his works, and donated this foundation building, which is equivalent to an art museum, to his hometown Barcelona, which he loved all his life. It was designed by Milo's good friend Joseph Louis Celt. Celt has worked with Miro for many times, and knows Miro's art very well. It seems to be integrated into the nature of Catalonia, with its dark green appearance, skylight which can absorb sunlight effectively, and the unique white walls and red tile floors in the Mediterranean area. There is a vast atrium, a garden on the roof, and the whole gallery is bathed in the brilliant sunshine of Catalonia. This open and vital Museum of Miro's works was officially opened in June 1975. Although Milo and Celt died in 1983, their passion for modern art still reverberates in the museum.
Collection works
Milo donated 217 paintings, 153 sculptures, all prints and 5000 sketches. At the same time, it also has a collection of paintings jointly created by Matisse, Duchamp and darbies, entitled "to Milo". But the museum is more than just a place to display collections. Milo, who plays an important role in the history of modern art, hopes to create a good environment for artists. Milo Art Museum, which inherits Milo's legacy, is a research and Consulting Center for modern art, keeping pace with the history of modern art. In addition to holding regular art exhibitions in order to promote modern art, it also provides exhibition space "space 13" for unknown artists and is committed to cultivating young people A generation. In addition to painting and sculpture, it also covers a wide range of arts such as music, drama, influence and poetry reading. There is also a spacious library for citizens to use. It is a community space for artists to connect with citizens. All these reflect Milo's art theory: art cannot deviate from daily life, and creativity is the common wealth of all mankind.
